install this scope so it sits back just far enough so that you can use stripper clips.

That looks like it will be a nice set up. But I wonder if it is bore centered and how high it sits over the bore? I used a Yugosolavian ZRAK set up and it is bore centered and sits low over the receiver but allows iron sight use. Bosnian Snipers were affixed in this manner.
I used a very similar undrilled rail to the Kalinka one pictured but it was undrilled.
It is not similar or same as the Chinese, Navy Arms rail that fits other scope types as in the bottom pic however.

since i can put the rail anywhere on the side i can pick how high or low i want it.
don't know if its bore center but if its too far left i can use one of those Garand cheek pads which would look nice on an SKS anyway.

Yes, you can choose to some degree where the rail is set. But it is limited by eye relief and available space on the receiver and how much stock you have to relieve. Bore centered scopes are more desirable by many as there is more consistent POI because the optic and bore are on the same horizontal plane. But left offset scopes work well too. If/when you do it ..., post pics. :p

got side tracked on this, got the rail and a Garand cheek bag but cant mount it til i get the scope in.
did pick up a 20 round Red Star mag, thing runs like a top after i tweaked the feed lips a bit.
didnt even have to open the stock up any.
im considering getting a SUIT scope and a spare cover, see if i can get that on there.

Nice rifles, AKBLUE. Looks like you have all the bases covered on Chinese variants.

Thanks,
Somehow I got hooked into scoped SKS rifles. :huh_small Particularly the Navy Arms and such. Been looking and collecting scopes, rifles and parts ever since. A few bubba jobs too.
