View Thread: Tapco Gallil handguard

I purchased a Saiga conversion back in 2001 and was happy with the way it shot but hated the civilian handguard. About a week ago bought a Tapco Gallil made for the Saiga. It makes the gun appear much more military and was easy to install. Goes over existing gas tube and tightens to the barrel with a metal fitting. Tried it out yesterday and the handguard stays cool even after continued firing. Thought someone might be interested Tapco makes a good product.

Thanks for the heads up. Just picked my first Saiga up today and did the quick conversion.

You have a pic of what it looks like? I have the short barreled 7.62

Good looking carbine! I originally set up my 5.56 Saiga pretty much the same way...

Where did you source the Tapco HG?

Here's a pic of the Tapco Galil handguard on my IO Inc. Ak-47

As I reported on various other ak-47 forums, it gets pretty hot after about 150 rounds.

I have a tapco rail kit sitting in the little plastic bag ready to be installed on the Galil handguard once I have time.
