Without getting into the esoteric side of such a conversion, let me just ask if there is a quantifiable difference in the accuracy, ballistics, etc... with the longer barrel?

Arguably, it makes an SAR less handy but is that offset by another set of factors?

In addition, any opinions with regard to slant-muzzle as compared to 74-style brake?

Thanks guys.

slant or the 74 break is a great advantage in automatic fire.....but for semi, there really isn't much of a advatage. I fired my 74 with the break on, then took it off and fired it....same with the slant break......really there isn't that much of a difference. it does give it that authentic look to the rifle, but not much else.

from my reading about it, the 74 break is the best break out there for auto firing.

I've put a ak-74 brake on my WASR hi-cap, and I notice that it does help with recoil, and stops it from climing, and it doesn't kick up like it use to. I have a slant brake on order, so I could compare them.

It is my understanding that the RPK is a light machine gun and is used for suppressive fire. It is lighter than a PKM but will sustain longer periods of fire than an AK. In semi-auto mode I doubt you get any real benefit other than the cool/unique factor. That was enough of a reason for me :cool_smal
