View Thread: Better 107FR?

What are the current 107FRs like? Are they any better than the first ones?

Does anyone have one that didn't have to be sent back?

I have a newer one and the FSB is dead nut and the fit and finish is great. I shot it the other and only had to make a slight elevation adjustment. I changed the flash suppressor out and installed a Bulgy 74 break from KVAR. Damn it sure got loud with the new break. I think it one of the best AK's on the market although a little pricey.

just picked one up at show for $875. and i really love it,looks 100% is n.i.b. it feels and handles great ,the only problem is that i cant get a bayonet on there! i tried 3 diff.ones no luck might just have to file edges on lug, but am not worried about it. what worries the hell out of me is what i have been reading since i bought it sat. afternoon, have not had much sleep and hope i dont have a lemon! all i hear is about bad paint, canted sight and bore might be at an angle, mine has none of this but i read about others where all looked fine but was still messed up,but i also read the newest ones are fine! how can i tell if i have a newer one? i have heard that the newest ones have a target included but mine didnt, it has a cert. of quality dated 2007 from bulgaria my serial no. is AD 47 11xx and it has the compensator instead of the flash hider, so i think i have a newer one. i did read that arsenal has no way of determining which ones were messed up! i also wonder if there i a way to replace the 24mm compensator and replace it with an AK47 slant muzzle-break without having to replace the entire ft. sight base, since once comp. is unscrewed it looks like its base is permanently welded to sight base! i really feel sorry for all those who got a bad one, but it seems every gun i bought in the last year, each manufacturer had problems with the first few hundred. sig put canted receivers on the first 200, smith+wesson had problems with the optic rails falling apart on their mp15s, fn had the ps90 and it wouldnt cycle properly, robinson arms cxr would fire 2 rounds with a single trigger pull and i hear about all these problems after a get the gun. i hope someone can please give me info. on my latest toy as to what is or isnt going on and whether i have a newer one! thanks! :cry_small[FONT=Arial]

called arsenal today to see about my new slr 107 fr, told them about the things i been reading and asked the lady who answered the phone if there was any way to determine which rifles were affected? she asked for my s.n. which is AD 47 11xx and she told me, that mine was shipped in may and that all the problem ones were shipped in feb.and that i had nothing to worry about. i asked her since mine was was of the newer ones how come there was no target included? was put on hold then she said that mine was shipped before they put targets in them! i then told her that my quality cert. stated it was made in 2007 in bulgaria, and what the serial no. was on the ones that were not affected? she very politely told me that i had nothing to worry about and that all the info she had given me, she wasnt even supposed to do! so anybody how has a higher no. than mine with the same prefix should be fine, they use different prefixes, more than that i dont know about that! but they were very nice, i just dont understand why she would not give me the s.n. of the first fixed ones? it does seem like they are trying to keep everything hush-hush but am so relieved that i got lucky for a change, this gun has a beautiful finish and all works like a charm and i really love it Big-Time! due to various factors it will be a few months before i will have time to shoot it. :laugh_sma :love_smal :laugh_sma

The company stands by there rifles and Julia the lady you spoke with is the best. I have two 107F's the first one had a canted FSB which I corrected in about 5 mins. The bayonet issue is common look for a real Bulgy and it will go right on. Why would you want to put on the worthless 45 degree break when the current one on the rifle is prefect. Enjoy your new rifle most stuff you read tends to be internet B.S. My new 107FR came with a target but my other one did not. The both shoot outstanding and for the money you get a great rifle. Remember that the rifle is normally a year old when you get them do to import issues and then factory mods before they even hit the local gun shops. Most firearms manufacturers have defects and issues and rise above it. Hope this helps ease your mind...

i really love mine and am trying to decide whether or not to drop the love of my life vz-58 a notch and make my 107 my number one. and i had wanted a 58 since the late 90s and finally was able to get the real thing from cz 3 months ago. arsenal really does seem to make the best but no-one is perfect! ;) now should i get a wasr before the ban? even they never lose value and not all have canted sights!

Why go from a Cadillac AK rifle to a junker like a WASR it's up to you but, I would'nt waste time. The Wasr's due have canted sights and fit and finish is under whelming. Look for a Mac 90 or a ploytech AK to add to your collect.
