View Thread: Wolf Ammo & the Century Golani/Galil

I have a Century Golani/Galil, already corrected from the factory with the "F" stamped on the receiver. I took her out the other day and fired a hundered rounds or so of PMC 55gr. FMJ with no problems. She ate it up like a champ. Tried some Wolf 55gr. FMJ and the rifle would not even cycle it, jammed up and double fed every time. Has anyone else had any problems with Wolf ammo in the Golani/Galil? What ammo are you using? It's not a magazine issue because I used both a steel IMI magazine and an Orlite, and they both worked flawlessly with the PMC. Just curious because my friend was with me and he had issues with the Wolf firing out of his Bushy M4.

Thanks

My Century Galil is also fussy on what ammo it likes. With Fiocci 55 gr ammo it functions 100%. With 62 gr green tip it has FTE's 10% of the time. I couldn't tell you about Wolf ammo because I don't use it. GARY N4KVE

Guys,
You shooting 223 or 556 nato rounds? Century Golanis are 223 chambered, not 556. If they have changed, I did not get the update, nor am I making them anymore. They have moved to a casting and making the Golani rec from that, I am not NOT NOT NOT doing those recs. Will 223 556 make a difference, yeap. Also mfg, and quality of the ammo, mags play a role, etc.

Just out of curiosity, Todd, do you know who is making Century's Golani receivers now?

I haven't seen any of the 'new' ones, so I don't know how these non-ORF receivers are marked. But, if there are problems with them, you'll probably be catching the shit if there's no easy way of telling the difference, if you catch my drift...

Todd. I think you hit the nail on the head. My Century Galil works 100% with Fiocci ammo, & looking at the box it says 55 gr Remington 223. This ammo is made in Missouri & is brand new. When I use the green tipped ammo it says LC & has the + in the circle. I assume this is .556 surplus ammo & I have extraction problems with it 10% of the time. Nowhere in the box the gun came in did it specify to use 223. As a matter of fact the gun came with a Romy AK owners manual. My gun works perfectly, headspaces correctly, & both lugs make contact. Matter of fact, I got the recall notice from Century but I won't send it back. I'll save the green tipped stuff for my Bushy, or Daewoo. Works fine in those. By the way the barrel is being shortened to 16 " as we speak. True my Galil only can take Israeli mags, not Orlites or SA, but big deal, I have plenty of them. DISCLAIMER I've never met Todd, he's not my brother in law, I've never been to Ohio. GARY N4KVE

that LC stamped ammo is lake city ammo.the green tip is SS 109(M855)stuff.it has a lower muzzle velocity for longer distance penetration.not enough to cycle right in your weapon.??military ammo has a greater pressure than civilian ammo.too much oompf but the galils,as with th 16 series, mini 14 etc should be able to take the rounds(556)
