day at the range

I had mounted m Scout setup on the 91,and sighted it at 25 yards earlier this week.Today I got a chance to go back and move the targets to 50 and 100 yards,and also to try out my load of 30 gr of 4895 over a 200 gr cast boolit with GC.
Very nice..just enuff thump to make it enjoyable.I had only loaded 20 rds or so of the hotter rounds,but it shoots to about the same POA as the poof loads at 50 yards :small_gri
gonna go upstairs and load up the rest of my brass with the 4895 until I run out of bras,powder,or bullets..whichever occurs first.

all in all a pleasant day except for the fool woman crossbow shooter who kept goin downrange to retreive her arrows while 3 of us were shootin :mad_small .Told her it was her ass that would get shot..keep it up!

Are these your cast or purchased projectiles? I've been swamped by work, kids and life and have been unable to sneak away and cast. I'm just about out. :(

Load sounds good -- when I get home I will have to jot it down in my notebook to try with my 91/30.

Jim...these are cast 310 GC boolits I bought before Evil bay :mad_small quit allowing them to be sold.these were two sizes 165 and 205 gr nicely cast GC bollits(sized 310),odd lots that someone had up for sale.

I've got 2 Lee TL 160 molds coming this week to get in some casting practice until both GB mold buys come in this winter.

there was a load I found at 25 gr of A5744,but I couldn't find the powder....

Swabb. I'm getting my 5744 from a local gun shop, but I did pick up some at a Gander Mountain if you have any near you.

did some more 100 yard stuff with the Mosin and my Enfield #4 sniper wanna be.

that 30 gr of 4895 is a great 200 yd load.I shot 2 rounds into 2 1/2" at almost 200 yards :small_gri .did almost as well with my Enfield, which has a much better trigger shootin 38.5 gr of RL15 and a Rooskie boolet.

I was so proud I brought the target home for proof :small_gri

I've got 65 more pounds of lead comin ,and my molds are here.I think I'll try castin some boolets while I'm melting the lead next week..stay tuned sports fans :laugh_sma

Swabbie what range did you go to? I know Nick's is only 100 yards. We generally go out to the buffer zone where we can get long shots, but that's 50 miles away from here, and gas is getting pretty dear. I may have to start going out there on a motorcycle. :)

we're fortunate to have a state range that is almost 200 yards only about 20 min from me.there's another that has 300,but it's private and approx 45 min away in my gas guzzlin dodge ram :mad:
I'm goin thurs fri or sat dependin on the weather.I gots no money so I'm playin with a subsonic load for my 308 Ishie just to have somethin to do.

I go to Stennis Space Center to shoot. We have 250 yards easily at the end of the range, but there's a tremendous amount of crap on the ground which gets in the way. On the other hand it is fun to shoot.
