View Thread: I want to buy one of these new Galils. What's best?????

I aready have one Galil but with all these new ones out, I'm going to buy another with my economic stimulus check. I like the $750 price of the Century model but I want the carry handle and bipod that folds into the handguard. I just think that make the rifle look much better. I'm mainly a collector and don't shoot many in my collection at all. I really like the ones Elite Fire Arms is making but they are over twice the cost of the Century. What would it take to put the carry handle, bipod & handguard on a Century version? Would I have to replace the gas block? I know I would need the carry handle assembly, hand guard & bipod. But what else? And who has the best price for those parts? I've seen the bipod for as cheap as $35 and as high as $150. And last, does anybody make one with the carry handle and bipod for around $1,000? Any input will help. George hasn't sent my check yet anyway.
Thanks, Bill

As a collector, you may wish to consider sticking with the IMI produced Galils.
They will cost you 2,500+/-.

I think I'd take a good look at the 5.45 models when they come out if your looking for a shooter. I always liked the quality on the I.M.I's imported by AA (Action Arms) if your looking at great quality/collector value in a .223/.308.
Glad you posted, you could almost hear crickets chirping in the Galil section the last few weeks.

Well, I went ahead and ordered a 7.62 X 39 ARM with new wood handguard, carry handle, bipod and all the toots & whistles from Elite Fire Arms today. It takes AK mags, is Duracoated satin black, is built on a brand new kit and looks absolutly beautiful. I was more money but after weighing it all out, it just was the best decision in my opinion.

Personally, I would save up enough money and buy a IMI Galil. I have a Micro Galil being built on a ORF receiver and the damn thing will not run. My builder has been working on this rifle for months. The receiver is probably out of spec. I have know doubt that ORF will fix the problem, but just thonking people should be informed.
I wish you the best of luck in your decision.

i decided and already bought today a second hand, unfired special edition SER II Galil built by Troy at In-Range. It has a an ORF reciever and the reports back from these builds have been 99% to the good, not to mention Troy does outstanding work. There was a guy in VA that had one for $200 less than the cost with 5 mags, he was asking $950 for it...was listed on arfcom
