View Thread: Choate Machine & Tool, INC's AK-47 stock

I order one of their Dragunov Design AK-47 stocks for a FEG SA-85 Hungarian Ak. The one made for SA-85. I got it and the screw that goes throught the pistol grip part of the stock was too short. The end of the screw did not even go throught into the bottom of the reciever. I called Choate and they told they don't have the right screw for it and that I should go to a hardware store and get a longer screw. They sold me their product with a screw that would not even attach the stock to the reciever.

How long was the screw? Did you pull it out? The Choate uses a fairly short screw, maybe an inch or so long. The screw sits up in the grip, like a FAL.

What do you mean?.The screw sits up in the grip, like a FAL.I put the screw in like you do with an ak pistol grip. The nut would be on top. The nut would be inside the reciever. Did I put the bloody screw in the wrong way?

What I mean is; the choate stock screw is way up in the grip,as the grip is hollowed out, like a FAL grip, whereas the standard AK grip svrew is longer,as it sets flush with the bottom of the grip. The choate probably just uses a metric screw availably at the local hardware. i wouldn't loose sleep over it.

I have been buying Choate stuff for twenty years for various projects. Its not always pretty but very durable. I have had FEW problems ever. they have ALWAYS been excellent to deal with. I wish they made a standard AK stock and pistol grip.
