What is the normal amount of time should it take to get my Galil repaired, it has been at ORF for over a month. But ORF did not build the rifle though, just the reciever. I sent it to them not the person I bought it from, because ORF does good work. Thanks, Jerod

Have you called them yet and asked or E-mailed them???

First of all GP. ORF builds a good rifle, as I did not build it myself, but the reciever is from ORF. It seemed to feed ok with the plastice mag. Just sent it back so that it will function with the steel ones I have 12 or more. GP I hear you also build a good rifle, but is was ORF and thought I would send it back to them. GP was going to have a G3 clone, but could not locate a reciever, so I just bought the whole gun. Thought I would give ORF the chance to fix it.

I would check or swap the springs in the steel magazines. For some reason I have found some steel magazines sit lower or "looser" than the plastic magazines. Not all of them though. There are some steel magazines that fit up as high and as tight as the plastic magazines. I have found many of the steel magazines sit lower like that for some reason. It hasn't been a problem in an IMI Galil. I have had that problem with 223 Saiga conversions with Galil magazines and that's when I really noticed the difference. In the Valmet most all of the steel Galil magazines sit a bit low but I figured that was because they are a different rifle. I haven't had an ORF Galil.

I really thought this was a joke. Like posting "I'm interested in buying an ORF FAL receiver . .. . "

The receiver may be out of spec on the mag to rail height. I've seen several where one had to weld an extension on the mag catch to hold the mag up high enough.

Be sure to check your headspace.

Whatever happens, just remember, It's your Fault!

I was told that the gas port was drilled to big and in the wrong direction by the previous owner. That the port can be welded, and then redrilled to the proper size and direction, or can replace the barrel. Thanks for all of the input. Thanks, Jerod

I would replace the barrel...

mjlynch71
I guess he is going to weld shut, then put it in the jig, and redrill the proper size and proper angle. But I do not know why the bolt would no feed a round from the mag into the chamber, but do understand now on ejection that there was not enough gas to push the bolt all the way back, and getting the old round and a new round stuck both in the bolt/chamber area.

I'd like to see the inside of the barrel after the old one is welded shut..

Welded the gas port closed redrilled new one at proper angle and size, shot 30 rounds without any problems, that is 30 more than what it did for me. Thanks for all of the info. Thanks, Jerod
