View Thread: Yugo or Romy RPK?
RonR
So...I am debating between getting the Romy RPK from Classic Arms (says its an AES-10b) with the heavy barrel and the Yugo RPK from J&G or Centerfire arms. What recommendations do folks have?
I have both a WASR-10 and a Yugo AK and like both...although the Yugo a bit better...but the AES-10b is $100 less...so there you go.
Do folks know if the Aes-10b has the heavier receiver...it only mentions the heavier barrel?
Any other recommendtions or thoughts?

the heavy barrel on the Yugo is cool, but many are complete sewer pipes. the yugo butstock, I don't like - I prefer the clubfoot romy style.
Romy is lighter.
Romy is probably a factory gun with a wasr receiver, and the Yugo is probably US reassembled (unless you're talking kits.)
there are pros and cons to each. Best answer is to get them both, shoot them both and keep 'em both or sell off the one you like less. I doubt the prices will drop any.

I would get the Romy. there are places selling them for $379.

The Romy has an NDS receiver,I believe. I can't decide...buy both...

the romy's AES10b's are imported from Romania, Cugir factory. they have romanian receivers.

i suggest you get both, they are a deal.century has the yugo for $499 with new barrel, and classic has the romy for $399.my buddy bought 5 yugo preban rpks in 1994 for $1500.he sold them for $1500 apiece.

Feedback on accuracy...I was reading elsewhere in the forums and many folks said that when you use the bipod that accuracy goes down?
For those who own these...are they accurate out to 200-300 yards? When using the bipod? I'm not thinking match accuracy...just minute of man accuracy?
thanks,
Ron

yes, they are minute of man accuracy at 300+ meters. get your windage adjusted correctly and the bullet will fall some place between the head and the groin out to 500 meters..

No the romys do not have either WASR OR US made nodak recievors OR us made barrels, they have the bulged and correct rivet locationed thicker recievor made in romania
and the accuracy on mine went through the roof (good) when i went to the bipod.

So--Century sent me an e-mail back saying they are Romanian barrels and receivers...but that they are built on standard 1mm receivers...I know lots of folks on these forums who have them say they're on the thicker receivers...anyone know what gives???
Has Century maybe changed them?
Has anyone on these forums recently bought one from Classic Arms and actually measured the receiver (or compared to a regular AK)?
Help me sort it out!
(This is all about the AES-10b, by the way).
thanks!
Ron
