VALMET_M76
They are the only newly made factory made AKs I am aware of.
But, I ain't buying any more of them. Not now that I have started the way of the builder.

For the first time ever K-VAR has correct 762x39 Bulgarian made chrome lined AK74 style muzzlebrakes that would be perfect for the new SLR 107s.

What advantages does that muzzle break have the stock one? Is it easy to swap out, just unscrew and screw on the new one?
VALMET_M76
SLR107 comes with a flash hider which is not a muzzlebrake. They just screw on and off.
A muzzlebrake helps stabilize the rifle during rapid fire, helping to keep the sights on target better.

Ah, I didn't realize the stock one was just a flash hider. Gotcha, thanks for the tip :)

I picked one up today, can't wait till tomorrow to try it out.

Congrats! Be sure to give us a range report :)

Well I ran about 200 rounds through it today, started off at 25M to see where it would shoot. Elevation was good to go but windage was off about 8" to the left, :sad_small had to move the sight all the way to the left to get point of aim point of impact, not happy about that for an $850 dollar gun,I didn't get to shoot at 100M cause there was a match at my club but I suspect I'll be out of windage adjustment. Oh the rear sight does look crooked.
VALMET_M76
That does not sound good. I would give the thing another try and see if you can get it to run right at 100 yards.
If you still have a problems I would contact Arsenal directly and make them make it right.
They do have halfway decent customer service and that is part of the $850 you paid for the rifle.
I really hate to hear that.
As a note, what Arsenal does with those things is replace the Front sight block. That is probably where the error is.
Rear sights? It is very, very common to see those canted on every make of AK. It's not really that big of a problem.
Let us know how it works out.

Sorry to hear about your problem Ed. I hope you can get Arsenal to fix it for you without too much hassle. Let us know what you do.
You have me worried now. I've read several reviews of this new model so far and they have all said pretty much the same thing. I have one on order that will be here in a few weeks, it will be my first AK. Is there something I could look for before picking it up to determine if it will have this problem? Can you actually see the cant in the front sight or do you have to shoot it to see if it is off?
Arkan
What is going on with Arsenal? I thought they made the best Ak's. For $850.00 bucks the rifle should be great.
EDinFL
Yeah you can see the cant in the front sight if you look close.

Called Arsenal today and will ship back to the factory tommorow....30 day turn around. :(

Maybe it will be like a 40 minute wait in a restraunt that is really only 15 minutes.
:wink_smal
I hope they get it right this time.

Me too....I still have my Yugo to play with. :D

I just recently pressed off the BAN style FSB on an Arsenal slr105 and pressed back on the threaded NOBAN FSB.
Now believe me, if you look at just about any AK really close you will be amazed at how common it is for them to have canted rear sights and off center gasblocks. Apparently, nearly all of these parts are aligned by eysesight by people that need glasses or by slaves that just don't give a shit. My opinion is that nearly every AK ever made anywhere was built by a slave that didn't give a shit.
Anyway, it's done by eyesight and that can be very tricky. It Arsenal really did a boresight alignment, (or even if real AK factories did it like they are supposed to) then the problem should be uncommon.
That isn't the way things are. Many AKs that were actually used by commie armies have sights drifted all the way over, indicating sight misalignment.
It should be fitted, sighted by SHOOTING and then drilled and pinned. That way you get a straight FSB.

I been looking to get into shooting AKs so I did a lot research and picked the SLR 107FR model based of their many excellent reviews for quality. I couldn't find any local so I special ordered two of them and picked them up today. The FSB's on both are canted significantly to the right such that I can't zero them since I can't move the front post over enough. Very disappointing, I am going to send them both back, I hope they fix them fast and correctly.

Arsenal Nevada is who puts those canted front sight blocks on the rifles. They do not come into the USA wearing threads.
Since the FSB is done here the pins are not in there super strong like they are on a real commie weapon factory AK so they punch out relatively easy. Sometimes real easy.
Anyway, punch them out, press off the FSB, realign it, push it back on. Shoot it to sight it in and if you fixed it on the first try redrill the pin holes and pin it.

So much for the claimed factory laser bore sighting but the groups were tight and function outstanding. My 106FR shoots dead nuts but I understand that the first ones out had a similiar issue as well. Good luck I will let you know the out come.

I thought about doing myself but decided against it. If it was a cheapy AK with no warrenty I would have went for it. But, this is my first AK and I purposely researched and picked one that I thought would come with no problems and if it did, would be covered under a warrenty. I just hope they fix the problem properly.
Taterbug
I just bought a sas m7,and I think the front sight is canted a little to the left. I thought it was just me. When we get better weather,im going to try to sight it in,and see.
