Getting closer! It's starting to come together! I received my bent bolt conversion from the fellow on E-bay mellbee(931*). For the price you can't beat it, and the turn around is super quick. I also received my reproduction PE scope mount and base with 1" rings from Accumounts johnzhukov@yahoo.com. Also orderd a Star 2-7x32 scout scope from crankyfarmer.com. Now all I need is my M91 back from the gunsmith that is doing the drilling and tapping and I can put it all together.:love_smal Pic's will come soon after.

Let us know how the scope mounts go dude, I've been looking for some decent ones for a while. :)

mosinutty
Will do. The mounts are well built, the only problem I've had so far is that the base would not fit flush over the oval of my receiver, but fit perfect on my dads. His M91 is older than mine and from a different armory. I'm having the gun smith mill out a small amount of my base so that it will fit flush. I'm hoping to have the guns back from the gunsmith before the end of february so that we can take them to the National Gun Day show in Louisville, Ky. on the 23rd.

AKBLUE
Is it necessary to use the EER scope you mentioned on that 1 inch PE mount. I would think you could/would use a regular scope. Just wondering. Round receiver?

I been thinkin about buildin or buyin a Mosin sniper,It looks like $335.00 on a C&R for average condition.I don't think I could build one any cheaper....?

The repro PU snipers can be pretty nice looking and good shooters. However, the latest versions often have the aluminum base and mount. Thses are not very authentic looking and not nearly as durable as the all steel ones. Check first. Classic Arms, Io and others but call and see what they have first. I would avoid the aluminum IMHO.

AKBLUE, round receiver and mount. I zip tied the mount to the gun and attached a regular scope. Just not enough adjustment for a full sight picture with the scope I used, but damned close without the recoil pad. Swabbie, I'll have about $470.00 in the gun all total, a little more than I wanted but it kinda snowballed on me.

that's not a hight amount for something done correctly.post some pix when you get her finished...

10-4 swab, will do!

Been working like a dog, crazy at work, no time for hobbies.:cry_small The gunsmith called me at work today to let me know the drilling and tapping of the PE mount was complete.:small_gri Told my boss I had an emergency and had to go! Sucker!;) I'm very pleased with the mount job's on both guns, great workmanship! The scope fit well but is tilted forward a bit due to the angle of the receiver. Can't wait to hit the range this weekend and see if my groups improve with the use of a scope. I will post pics this weekend when I have some time.:wink_smal

I'm jealous....ur gonna love reeloadin with 2400 and cast bullets for 100 yds
4895 for 200 yds or so.

Make sure your scope is zeroed for elevation before you shim the mount.otherwise you'll run out of travel and still be low or high.

I'm guessin you may be OK as I had to shim the rear mount on my Enfield.
Local hardware sold some thin brass that worked real well.A warning...shimming is a slow procedure.

mosinutty
I set the elevation adjustment on my scope to 1/2 of the full adjustment then placed a .005 shim under the rear scope ring, worked perfect. We had to put two .005 shims under dads to get it right. The imporvement the scopes made with accuracy shooting surplus ammo was impressive, I can't imagine what they will do with cast bullets! I received the production pot, luber sizer, dipper, alox, ingot mold, and neck expanding die from Lee today, I hope the bullet mold and mold handels from Lyman show up before the weekend.
