View Thread: mosin prices going back down?

J&G sales dropped their bottom model $10.00 to $59.00.I think DStorm is right...looks like beginning of rifles&no ammo or economy sux (or both)

Someone on another board claims the reason for the
drop in price is due to 3 large shipments of Mosins
coming in recently. Ammo is still available for 15-18 cents/round. The 91/30s I've looked at recently are in excellent condition. Got a couple with mirror bright sharp bores. The sky is not falling yet.

Get to a gun show or order that ammo. Cases upon cases in the gun room are called for!!!

Gun shows are a good indicator of current prices for me. At a show last weekend M44's were selling for $110.00 and M91's for $119.00. I know the vendors mark them up substantially so this tells me the prices on Nagant's are still low. These were all higher end hand picked Nagant's from the looks of them.

The problem with 7.62x54mm ammo isn't the price. It's the shipping. Shipping damn near doubles the price of the stuff. Then there's the fact that some percentage of the ammo is really inaccurate. Much as I love the Bulgarian brass-cased ammo I suspect it isn't that accurate. It Does extract like butter, though.

you don't have enough ammo until you can stack the boxes into the shape of a couch, throw a blanket over it and fool your mother into thinking your storing furniture in the garage.

Currently 7.62 x 54 is the only rifle round I reload for. I've had real good luck and have gotten into casting -- still building my skills on that front. I've found this is the best way to get the fatter 30s needed for best performance with cast lead.

I wish the prices over here were going down. :(

Went to National gun day in Louisville, Ky. last weekend. Several M-44's and M-91's. One group had a large wooden crate full of M-44's from R-guns going for $79.00, They went super fast. I ran through the show pretty fast hunting for an M-38. Out of the thousands of guns at the show I only found two 38's. I bought an Izy for $125.00, the other had $150.00 on it. To many hours at work, so I haven't shot it yet.http://www.akfiles.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Nothing new has came in but Century is trying to clear out the rest of the 63K they got in the original purchase....... they will fall even lower the longer nothing comes in as far as surplus ammo, how low will depend on how many of those guns Century wants to end up eating, they still got a warehouse full of em as do several other importers but nobody brought in the volume Century di and everyone wants to be rid of em so.........

I wondered about why the prices were falling. My assumption was that everyone was buying AKs and ARs right now, so the demand just wasn't there for the bolt-action jobs. Mausers seem to be falling too.

Say Stormy, does Don have any decent Mosins? I bought a few of those $39 T53's from him, and they shoot, but they're - well $39 guns. I'd heard he was going to be moving Chinese Mausers and nicer condition M91/30s. His website doesn't seem to list them, so I'm wondering.

I have no idea, haven't been around there since November, nothings been imported so he would have whatever Century or TG guns has in inventory
