View Thread: When someone gets banned...

I would like to see a brief explaination from the administration placed in the Members' Only section as to why someone gets banned.

How about a public banning so we can all throw snappy retorts at the offender!
Ban the Bum! Lynch his keybord! He had it comming! Nothing like an old fashioned bannin'.

Having just gotten off the phone with the site owner, this thread is very spooky. We spoke of this very thing.
I have been asked to write up a set of guidelines for approval - editing concerning admin actions for infractions. As this is not my life, I will attend to the task as time allows.
For now, I can explain in a general manner. This is ENTIRELY how I am operating and NOT the offical word from the owner. You can rest assured I am not too far off her intentions.
Posting of porn will result in a deletion of the post and a warning via PM and / or public post. Second offense will surely result in a temp ban. Third offense and perm ban occurs. I don't keep up with every post and I don't count so good. It is best to err on the safe side of those numbers. My axe gets itchy.
Posting personal threats will result in a temp ban, first time out. Perm ban second.
Posting personal info will go pretty much like porn, depending on context,,,,it might go like threats.
Racism will be dealt with like porn.
I will not enter into a conversation on philosophies, so don't go there. Go look around the Mother Ship (FalFiles) and report back how people conduct themselves over there.
1.
Veiled racial slurs will likely be difficult to ignore but almost as difficult to truly act upon rightfully. Bigoted behaviour has devolved into a fine art.
2.
Many people find that a curvy female wearing less than 20 square inches in strategically placed locations is not porn.
3.
To some peoples, using the eff word thrice per sentence is considered fine form. As is calling someone a stupidfuckingretard because they have a different opinion than their own.
One through three are what could be termed as "softer" challenges to we Moderators. Personally, I will overlook the eff word a little longer than others, but not VERY much longer. Put it in your sig line and see what happens.
Post something from your worldwidewebbikiniboard and I will dump it most rikky tick.
If your posts make it clear that you want the world to know you are a racist we will ensure that this board does not assist you in promulgating your views. I for one, will not personally hate you for your views, but you won't get a Christmas card from me either.
End of lesson for today.
Watch for official word from on high.

Yes chief, you are correct.
Jen is wanting to have some "hard and fast" guidelines in print. Not just for members to know, but for we Mods to go by.
I actually get asked if things are legal or not that are plainly posted in the existing rules. Therefore, I can surmise that these same people would be shocked were they to get perm banned for posting explicit sodomy three times.
Go figure. :straightf

Yeah, I was reading a thread and noticed someone had been temporarily banned. I wanted to know what happened and not have to guess about it.
"Official announcement" has a good ring to it.

i don't like the fact that someone got banned.alot of guys on here have walked the line of needing a timeout-including me on more than one occasion.i think we need a system that allows the moderator or even a member to step in and say to those involved this conversation is leading no where why not break it off for now and try again when everyone is more calm.this would work with a moderator but i'm afraid if a member stepped in they might be told to mind there own business or worse.the problem lies with the moderators simply do not have the time to veiw every thread and post.they have lives that come first before the files.i like the files alot.i wish we could all get along all the time, but this is not going to happen.we will disagree.the problem starts when we loose our tempers and turn it into something more than a discussion, again including myself on more than one ocassion.hopfully those in charge will come up with a plan that can be posted so there is no question about what will be done when you cross the line.tdbrown

There are two things that I want and that are needed..
1. Guidelines of what can get you banned and what the penalties for breaking those rules are - ie warning, 1 week ban, 1 month ban, perm ban, etc..
2. Posting of the banned members username, their infraction(s) and the length of the ban so that everyone, including those banned, know what it was for.
