View Thread: SLR-107UR Krinkov wood handguards

I took AK files members advice and purchased an Arsenal SLR-107UR Krinkov rather than trying to assemble a parts kit. I am looking for some nice wood handguards to replace the black plastic. Can anyone tell me what would have been original to the Bulgarian Krinkov? Does anyone know of a source for wood hgs? I tried K-Var but it looks like they are out of stock on most wood handguards.

The original Bulgarian handguards are straight up fugly. The paint is absolute terd. Most everyone refinishes them. The link below shows a pic of the Bulgy version of the AKS-74U.

You can always pick up some unfinished handguards from Ironwood Designs and refinish them yourself in any color you want. After the stain dries, many guys use 4-5 coats of Tung Oil to bring out a nice shine.

The first Bulagrian Krinkovs were assembled with Tula made Russian laminate handguards. This is one of the early kits that were importd years ago.

So go to Rusmilitary and order a set before thay are sold out. You cannot beat the price or the look. When these are gone you will see them going of $200 at set.

Those sure look a million times better than what the K-Var kits come with. In fact, better than what most of the kits out there are shipping with. I could not believe how pathetic the handguards looked in the last K-Var kit that I ordered.
