The Hesse receiver is the way to go. Everything is in spec., and the whole receiver is hardened; same cannot be said for the OOW/ITM receiver. Plus the hesse/vulcan receiver from JoeKen is 39.95, if you log in to their website with "gunsnetpromo." Dealing with Joeken IS A HEADACHE! I don't believe they are trying to screw anyone, they just don't know much about running a business. You have to make them understand that if they don't have it in stock, they need to tell you that, and not debit your c.c. until it IS in stock. My last order from them, Joe said he would give me a $7.95 discount because of a previous order being screwed up by them. Well, when I received the order, they had ADDED the discount to the order total, instead of subtracting the discount. Jeeesus! But, since no one else seems to be carrying the Hesse/Vulcan receiver, I guess I just have to persevere. Also, snap up the hesse/vulcan receiver while you can, cause soon as they realise that it is actually a very good product and competitive with the other brands out there, the price will rise.

In every state I've looked into it at, it's illegal to debit the card before shipment, ESP. if you don't even have the product. with all their other bits of horrible service, pandering to numbnuts on certain boards, etc, can't wait till sopmeone sues them and puts them out of business. Gun world doesn't need idiots like this giving us all bad names

Hello folks,
Picked up three of the new Vulcan (Heese) receivers from Aren at dsspro@msn.com. (found him over on AK-47.net). Sent him an e-mail wanting more info and he called ME ! ! What service ! !
Anyway, GREAT looking product and had them in under a week (local FFL holder ordered them for me). Cost was under $60 each, delivered. Now I know "others" might have them cheaper, but Aren has them in stock -- and a good guy to deal with too.
I have built one AMD-65 on the first receiver (screw method) and the front trunnion lined-up perfect with the holes in the receiver. On the rear trunnion two holes lined-up, but had to drill holes for the lower holes in the trunnion. No problems in any way ! !
Second receiver is now almost complete with my second AMD-65 kit, and the third receiver will be used for the AMD-63 kit I have ordered.
Ya know - - - - this is just to much FUN ! ! ! ! !
I understand that both the Hesse/Vulcan and OOW/ITR receiver are probably, for the most part, the same (they’re a piece of sheet metal), but as far as the quality and reputation goes, wouldn’t a OOW/ITR be a better buy for only $20 more?

it might be a better buy if OOW has worked out the issues with the opening where the selector lever fits into. That is one of the reasons I went with a Hesse receiver. Hesse might have a bad rep for other products they have made, but the AK receiver is done right. I did my first build on a Hesse receiver and everything went together well. For future builds I will either use the hesse (now vulcan arms from the sounds of it), or use the bent metal receivers (and make my own). I had read somewhere about the ak-74 receiver that OOW makes doesn't have the same issues as the ak-47 receiver they make, but am not sure. Hope this helps.

My understanding on this, is the OOW receivers are spot hardened only, while the Hesse/Vulcan ones are more thoroughly heat treated. I know this is pretty much a non-issue to most folks, but is another point for the dreaded Hesse stuff. There is another source of Hesse (older, real Hesse) that are in stock and available in the Autin,Tx area. These are $60 apiece, just a few left.
If someone is interested, talk to Bert, 512-771-7213. He is a nice fella also and he will make you deals on some other Hesse stuff.
I won't buy Hesse FAL stuff, nor any complete Hesse rifle, but it seems they may have got these AK receivers up to par (something the third world countries can do also).

If you plan on doing a PMKMS under folder the OOW is the way to go. The Volcan/Hesse serial number is in the way for this build. :small_gri

I used Bentmetals for my underfolders because of the Hesse serial # issue. I would rather drill all the holes myself than have to deal with an OOW receiver with one hole drilled wrong causing the selector to be too low.
