Hi

I am new to the forums and am a big fan of the AK platform and have 2 Romanian AKM74's direct from CUGIR. (Im in Europe).

There are a number of options here to import from Izmash and other manufactuers, these are currently AKS-NUF (Cal.223), AKS 47UF (Cal.7.62x39).

Do any members here have any recommendations on the above or advice against?

having never seen them, let alone handle them,but I assume they are copies of the 5.45 AKS-74U, except that it maybe a undefolder? seeing it's designated as a -UF, and if they are made at the arsenal plant in russia, then you can't go wrong with buying either one of them. ishvesk/izmash imports the SAIGA rifle here in the US and they are quality made rifles, even though they are not exact copies of the AKM. the 5.56 version would be closer to the original 5.45 caliber of the AKS-74U

can you get them as select fire (semi and auto fire) or semi-auto only?

cheers for that, yes we can get them in either confiq though SF is the better option as you dont need a additional permit (this costs extra and has strict stipulations on storage etc).

I'll do abit more research and post some pics of this weapon in the next few days, maybe critique it then?

I usually select my rifles in part on the availability of ammo. That may be something to consider in europe.

I for one would like to see whatever it is you decide upon.

i will be picking up a new bulgarian AKS74 NUF (5.56x45) next week, have another 2 on order though needed to buy new SIGp250Dc's so they will wait. i will start another thread as soon as I have time to photograph etc.

Anyways looks good, I am green as all hell.

Im in Switzerland so its the normal process here. Takes about 3 weeks to get them in but you need a dealer who has the right connections.
