Hello one and all,

Went to the local toy show yesterday (Medina County, Ohio) to pick up a few items and look for a "possible" Chirstmas present.

Well - - - felt my heart stop when I spyed a "Pre-Ban Bulgarian side-folder" for only $625 ! ! (that's what the price sticker said) Man-o-man, thought I was in HEAVEN ! ! Could this be true ! ! !

Anyway, the "dealer" saw that I was interested and said "pick her up, look it over. Really nice condition ! !"

Well folks, I was born at night, but not last night ! !

So I said "What - - - no muzzle brake ?"

"Bulgys never have muzzle brakes" said the dealer.

"Sure this was made in Bulgaria ? ? ?" I asked.

"Sure am -- positive. Good price too ! ! "

So I ask "Then why does it say here, on the receiver -- Made in Romania ?"

"What ?!?!?!? Where ?!?!?!?" say the dealer.

Then I say "This is a ROMANIAN SAR-1, made in the year 2000, 6 years AFTER the "ban" and it has a operating ILLEGAL Romanian side folding stock ! ! This rifle is ILLEGAL ! ! You could go to JAIL ! ! " (Had to "play" with him a little bit ! ! )

Dealer grabs the rifle from my hands and says "get your a$$ away from my table -- NOW! ! !" Believe you me -- he is not happy ! !

Anyway, went on my merry way, thinking it's clowns like him that give us AK owners a bad name ! !

No need to report him to the "locals" -- it's an ATF issue.

Still looking for my Christmas present. If I'm lucky, the clown will have have a reduced price on this rifle at the next toy show.

Could end up with a sweet-heart deal. Might trade him even-up for the Walther PP Grandpa brought back from the war. I've been told Grandpa pried it from Hitler's right hand after he shot himself -- still had a blood stain on the grips ! !

Just never know . . . . .

Hello one and all,

Then I say "This is a ROMANIAN SAR-1, made in the year 2000, 6 years AFTER the "ban"

not to be picky.....OK I am, but the ban on AKs in assault weapon configuration, has been in effect since 89.

I opted out going to the show, this weekend, and instead went to the plate shoot at TUSCO today, out in beautiful Midvale :D, since it will be the last one for this year.

it doesn't surprise me anymore to see post-bans, turned into pre-bans on "dealers" table anymore....what would really surprise me is if I don't see one at a show...but that will never be the case. I've seen a polish parts kit complete with operational underfolder built on a OOW receiver, that had the trunion welded to the receiver....being sold by a couple of guys that do the gun show circuit here.

just for shit and giggle.....did the dealer who had this AK, happen to have a camo netting on his table? along with other outrageously priced "assault weapons"? I just got this feeling.

There is always one at a show. Saw a post-ban polytech today no flash hider, no bayo lug, pre ban pistol grip, $1250 price tag. At least he didnt have the words "pre-ban" on the gun.

Oh Yes ! ! !

The GREAT steel plates shoots at Tusco ! Would have gone today, but just "to many irons in the fire".

"Clown" was a new face -- not the dudes with the netting (do know who you mean though)

And as always, Campy is once again correct ! !

This happens at shows across the country, unfortunately. Post bans passed as "pre-ban". Still trying to figure out if it is ignorance, stupidy, or crookedness on the dealer's part-probably a combination of all three.

there is a regular dealer at Medina and Berea and Akron shows that is based out of La Grange Oh that has had many pre-ban MAADI AK's, but surprisingly, none were imoported by Steyr of Secaucus NJ. Everything I have ever read says that there only 250 of them in the country and only Steyr brought them in before the ban. He called me a smartass and told me to move on when I informed him of the facts. He has had many FAKE pre-bans at all of the shows I have attended. His prices suck in general, also.

Hey, Bob, wifey and I bought another Vector today, pretty soon we'll look like a dealer of 9mm subguns.:cool_smal
