is the plum furniture a polymer ???

They are Russian manufacture "Polyamide" stocks and handguards. The Russians supplied them to the Bulgarians in about 1989-90.

There are sites on the internet that list the "Plum" stockset for $80 alone.

the oow recievers i got in the past have not been drilled, which is a good thing.
the pivot pin holes were also heat treated..a very good product in my opinion

In my opinion, given ALL variables, the OOW receivers are the best available.

The receivers are heat treated properly in all required areas.

The receiver needs to be drilled for rivets in a pattern that matches "your" trunions.

The rear trunion has different hole placement, dependion on full stock or folder.

7/23 Update...Please see first posting!

When I first saw the kits, I got very interested in one in Plum. I also didn't want to wait on the built , A check of his web site revealed that he had these all ready built by Ohio Rapid Fire in stock on the Ohio Ordnance Receiver and all the other good stuff ( trigger group, ect.)
So I ordered one up and picked it up late yesterday, had time today to strip it down for a check out and lube, I'm very impressed, this is first class stuff, high quality work by the Bulgarians, very smooth trigger, and a first class build by O.R.F.
It looks so good , I really hate to shoot it , but that's going to happen very soon.

I know these are handpick kits listed as new. Does that mean new as in new never fired or as in like new condition.

All day Sunday was spent with my youngest son, who was home for the weekend from college, sorting and wiping down the 74 mags and boxing parts kits for shipment. As we were working Stephan said, "Dad,...If some of my friends at school who are "Anti-Gun" could see what I am doing today?"

We sorted and pre-boxed almost 2,000 MORE black, red, and brown magazines. Over half of the 600 red and brown are already sold. I had some very large dealer orders for kits and magazines at the begining of my group buy. When I purchased the product, instead of doing the "Group Buy" thing and turned this into a "SALE",....things EXPLODED.

I have shipped 270 kits that were mostly single and double orders with a few fives and tens from builders and dealers thrown in the pile. I have shipped many "Big Packages" and tons of mags. When it comes to orders, some people post their intentions to buy and some do not. Some people post that they received items and some do not. That is fine. The thread is not an indication of what is really going on in pits.

With almost 5,000 hits on this thread and 2,200 separate emails on the items for sale, it coud be said that the funniest thing about this SALE is that,... I ACTUALLY have time to SHIP ANYTHING!

One thing for sure, with all the "screen names", "crazy" and "multiple" email addresses, and "real names"......I have a tough time matching people with their orders. Somehow it is getting done with no mistakes,...yet.

I know In wanted to be the "Good Guy" and offer the complete package but, receivers are the real PAIN! They require snail mail (FFL) and matching the FFL's with their buyers,....along with more bookwork.

I love it,...and I am very thankfull! It is just BIGGER than I ever thought it would be.

They are coming,....they are coming! In BUNCHES!

Don't forget that NY buyers of receiver's need to have a copy of your FFL sent along to their NY FFL for transfer. I just had to wait 2 weeks for the FFL from an out of state dealer to arrive before my FFL would release my rifles. Just a heads up.

Just another update since I've had some time to inspect the kit.

This appears to have been an unissued and unfired AK74 rifle that was cut up for the parts kit. There are no marks on the breech face and no marks on the hammer face or firing pin. I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

This is everything Bob has advertised.

I received my kit today and it is as good as advertised! The kit appears unfired, the furniture is in great shape and best of all there is no damage to any part from the demill process!!

Guys, I just have to chime in here. When I look at the number of hits that this thread has gotten, I know that Bob has got to be absolutely covered up. I can tell you from my personal experience that I spend 3-4 hours a night just answering emails and replying to post and my threads have not gotten 1/3 of the activity that Bob has. I'm sure that he has to balance his time between filling orders, making phone calls, answering email and posts and just trying to run his business.

Try and be patient and I'm sure he will get back to you as soon as he can. Besides, I haven't seen one negative post on him yet and that alone says alot.

Gotta agree with DPH on this. I put in an order for a built up gun. Even though I froth everyday thinking "THIS IS THE DAY!", I gotta hold it in check. Every email or every call puts me further back. Patience is my watch-word.

Appearently she got her feet tangled, and did a "full gainer", face first, into the Lazy Boy recliner. When I arrived just as the paramedics were taking her to the hospital she had a "hardball" sized knot on her forehead, and was bleeding from her mouth, chin, and forearm.

As ONLY my mother would ask, She says to me,..."Robert, Is my lipstick smeared?" I replied,..."Mom, I can not tell the lipstick from the blood!"

Three hours, x-rays, ice packs, and a CAT scan later, She is back home. Thank God!

As I left she ask me if I had much to do at home. I said ,..."Nope!"

Today I saw that your latest update for 9/20 says "receivers are only available with AK-74 "Big Package and A la Carte Kit" purchases."

Yes, as you can see the response is good. Receivers have become an issue.

The AK-74 receivers are SUPERB!

I have a problem with some of the OOW "AK-47" receivers. The safety hole is WAY OFF and I have reviewed the appearance of the heat treating application.

NO MORE "47s".

The bigger problem is the "Receiver ONLY" orders that have piled by the hundreds. I have STOPPED this type of order.

I had no Idea that this many people "surf" the FAL Files and AK Files threads. Coupled with sales originating from Gunbroker and Sturmgewehr, and some action from "major name" builders, I am swamped with orders and RE-ORDERS.

The Plum furniture is, IMHO, Some great stuff. unlike your poly'ied/Shellaced wood finished, The plum stuff doesn;t scratch, dent, ding or get "dull spots. While it IS possible to scratch it, it's going to require sdome force, Like a sid across a gravel driveway or perhaps a slip of a screwdriver or something. Either way, VERY durable stuff. HOWEVER... be aware, it is still a plolymer... be easy with that brake cleaner/carbcleaner type stuff, as that stuff eats and makes soft any kind of palstic, polymer or similar material. It also does a number on paint, for those of you who did the "spray paint" paint job with grill paint or whatever. HTH~

I got my Bob-built '74 today with the plum furniture today. I have been hyperventilating and anticipating this day for a while and <b>I was not disappointed</b>. The rifle is first-class. All of the parts have matching serial numbers and the plum furniture is beautiful. The folks at my FFL's gun store were completely jealous.

Tomorrow, I am going to the range. Will post range report.

Thought that ya'll might want to see a pic of my Bob-built 74 from the Bulgarian kits. I also got a selection of mags at the same time.

Took it to the range yesterday and zeroed the sight. After that, it performed flawlessly. I was able to hit a 12" steel plate at 50 meters offhand at very near to rapid fire. so mild is the recoil in the gun/caliber combination that it literally stays on target.

When I started this "sale" it was part of my design to keep it simple by offering a kit, or a complete package. Offering everthing as an "a la carte" would subject the sale to possible stocking imbalance (ie...FCG's could sell out,.. leaving me with tons of rivets,..or grips).

As of now,..it's a "Kit" or a "Big Package".

Bob, did your new batch of receivers show up yet? If you haven't received them by the time you call for my credit card info for my 3 Alacarte plum kits and 10 pack of mags, i will give OOW a call. I know you buy your receivers in bulk, maybe OOW has three laying around that i could purchase. I already have an FFL on file with them.


EDIT: I just got off the phone with OOW and they said the 5.45 receivers are at least three weeks out.
