I was talking to one of our big deer hunters at work the other day and gripping about how deer leases are too expensive and how I didn't have a place to hunt and so on and so forth. He then told me that they had an opening on their lease for $250.00 a year. WOW that's cheap by comparison. Then he told me that one of the favorite activities is to sit on the tail gate of a truck, drink beer, and shoot his "sniper" rifle. It is a 22-250 that he clames is flat out to about 600 yards and the bullet travels so fast that it dienegrated before it hits the target. Yea, OK whatever. He then goes on to tell me that there is nothing better than grabbing a 6-pack and his deer frifle and going to the stand and drinkin beer all day and watching for deer.
And no, he was dead serious!

I passed! When I challenged him on the beer and gun thing he said it is alright if you don't over do it and it really depends on who it is and how he handles the beer.

This person is nuts! You should NEVER mix andy kind of alcholic drink and guns any anytime of the day or night. If you are going to drink beer, put the guns away and have fun.

What do you guys think?

The Man is a 1st grade moron...........
Reason he thinks his bullet disintegrate before hitting the target is he's too drunk to
hit the target period.......bet he drives himself home as well.

Sadly selfish......

Dangerous and illegal, at least in Ohio. I have known of at least three cases personally of folks having a drink and getting busted for “possession of a firearm while impaired”. I think that’s what it’s called, and it not only puts you in court, but also causes you to loose all of your firearms, at least for a while. BTW it doesn’t matter if the gun is loaded or not.

This is the same guy that tells me that the 5.56 bullet tumbles in the air and that there is no such thing as an American built AR15. He tried to tell me that they were all built in China and that he can prove it. When asked how, he said that if you open them up there is a little "C" on the inside that indicates China. Then we get into an argument about the 5.56 tumbling in the air. He says, "The nose of the bullet is weighted so it will tumble and that is why it is so lethal." I say, "Well if the 5.56 tumbles in the air then how can I shoot a 1" group at 100 yards with my AR15?" He says, "Oh that is different. The AR15 and the M16 are two completely different weapons!" Then he really pissed me off. He tried to say that the M16 was a better weapon than the AK47!

What is really bad about this guy is the fact that he is NOT stupid and is very likable. He just has his facts mixed up and there is no amount of arguing that will change his mind.

As far as the beer thing goes. I, too agree that beer and guns don't mix. I have never seen this guy drink as I can't drink any more,(diebetic), but some of the other guys in the shop have seen him drink and they tell me that he can put away a 2 six packs in short order and never even stagger! If I put away 2 beers I stagger.

That guy is a real jerk and is just a terrible accident waiting to happen. Sounds like a guy who used to be my neighbor. He knew everything about everything, except he was always wrong.

Keep as far away from this guy as you can for your own safety.

I agree, he's an accident waiting to happen. The guys who
"can put away 2 6-paks and not even stagger" have learned
to control their walking. But this guy sounds like he's a good
guy to stay away from even if he's sober.

But who said an AR-15 was better than, or as good as,
an AK-47? :D

one (over 1000 members) club i shoot at has a fridge and beer in the day room, right outside the indoor range room. one beer = no more shooting for the person drinking.

one club i shoot at (trap shooting club), most of the members have been drinking prior to going to the line.

one club i shoot at permits no alcohol on the premises.

guess which one of the three i joined.

some people can handle liquor and others don't know when to stop. i can tell you that gunsmithing and liquor DO mix. just ask marc and mike.

midnight...

"do this thing work?" (a click as the mag snaps into place, followed by the rack of the slide, and the sound of an opening door).

BANG! BANGBANGBANG!

"there's cars out there!"

"i don't see nothing, and thanks, guys, it works great."

Which is worse: him becoming a statistic...or his victim becoming a statistic? Either way, the odds are against him. Only a matter of time. :(

Moron. Alcohol and firearms don't mix.

I recently re-visited the gun club that my departed Grand Dad was a member of for the "thursday night fun shoot"(trap). There were multitudes of members walking around with beer prior to shooting. I turned around and left.....

miniz, that sounds like the same trap club i shot at.

some guys can handle booze and guns. some guys can't.

i'm not serving as the beta tester to find out who can and who can't.

one local trap club has a rule of no booze on the premises. some of the shooters go out in the parking lot and hammer down their beers between relays.

that's their choice and if they want to go that route it's their business.

Personally I think that you ought to inform the game warden/conservation officer that this schmuck is gonna be drunk in a treestand and let them haul his ass off to the graybar. You're doing him and his future victim a favor.
