IF he's convicted (that's one BIG if), then my bet is on a sentence far below that which someone less connected would be served with.

Those who are in positions of trust should have a mandatory doubling of whatever sentence is normally applied.

Got a link?

No link yet... came over the local news....

Your, sadly, probably right. In my book the dude is toast. But... he is from a wealthy well known and old family from the upper crust of Charleston Society. Father was a long time politician and Senator and well know. All big in the development and construction business. He is a millionare. He even ran for Congress himself. I can't understand why he would do something like that... but he is innocent until proven guilty I suppose.

In the old clan and tribal days in Europe 'tis said the old laws did
graduate fines and punishments as suggested. Do a small harm to a neighbor, costs an average Joe one head of cattle, costs an elder ten,
and the chieftain fifty. It was fair then and WOULD be fair now.

Of course now the rich, famous, and politically connected skate. I
just now opened this thread, the link opens to the Greenville press, but the link is now broken. It won't show the article, only the
header. Perhaps our boy really does have clout. Shades of ted
kennedy at Chappaquidic. It's all inverted now,the little guy gets his ass handed to him,fat pigs skate. And "they" have the gall to wonder
why the natives are restless.

Andrew Jackson was quoted many years ago,as referring to "the pack of jackals on the hill". The big shots, don't forget to dot the"O"
are much worse now. Ah hell..................

best regards,

Well... the co-indicted person is in Jail

However Thomas is NOT in jail. And so it begins.

The details seem to be that Thomas was buying Coke from this Guy and intended to give it to "friends". thats where his "distribution" charge comes in. The seller is a shady sort of character so it's fairly obvious that Thomas was using himself (at least it is to me) or he would not have been doing any business with this guy on a normal basis.

this appears to be a group buy for personal use. the co-defendent was the seller. quantity has not been stated except as charged, less than 500g. feds were brought in because of possible political conflict of interest.

Well.. the latest is he will not be able to attend his arrainment hearing next week as he has checked himself into rehab in Arizona "on the advice of his doctor"... which normally means "on the advice of his lawyer to get a doctor to recommend it" so as to make it all confidential.
