I noticed Tantal sells a grip plate (http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/). I have a Polish underfolder kit and wondered if this would be an appropriate addition to my receiver to make it authentic?

Tantal says, "FINALLY AVAILABLE! This is an exact reproduction of the steel plates used on all Russian pattern folding stock Kalashnikov rifles including production AKMS, AKS-74, AK-74M, and AK-100 series rifles. These have been totally unavailable until now, and will strengthen your project rifle as well as provide the right look and feel. Originally spot welded to the bottom of the receiver and sandwiched with the trigger guard rear rivet, this item will correctly angle your trigger guard strap and add length to your grip, while making the rifle feel much more rigid. This is the part that you need to finish your replica folder"!

Yes, but Tantal just ran out. Contact him to get on the wait list.

He says they're reproduction, and exact. I've known of Tantal for several years (been on the same boards), and if he says it's authentic, that's about the best statement you could want. As long as you understand they're reproductions, you're good. You can depend on Tantal, from everything I've ever heard about him.
