Has anyone ordered from this company? If so was the service good or bad and what are your thoughts on this rig? I wasn't sure if I should get one of these or go with one from Blackhawk. I emailed the company and asked what materials were used in it exactly and they told me it was constructed of 1000 denier ballistic nylon coated with Dupont teflon and its double stitched. On the other hand since Blackhawk updated their site it says they use 1000 denier nylon construction, not the 1000 deneier NyTaneon they used to claim. Would there be a big difference? Is it worth the $65.00?

That there is a 2nd or 3rd hand clone of the Eagle SF30AK chest rig which was then cloned by BPG as their commando chestharness

The pricing is commensurate with what you'll be getting.. considering that a good majority of the chicom chest harnesses run approximately 25.00 per

Originally one could carry 8 AK mags or 12 AR mags in this style of rig.

I just received the same vest from a different company for $67.00. The tag on the vest reads Teflon fabric protector only by DuPont. The other tag has Tac Force on it with the name of the vest “commando chest harness”. Below is a link to where I bought mine. The center two pouches hold 3 AK-74 mags (what I have in it now) and 2 mags on the outside of the center two. The two pouches on the outsides will hold 3 AK 74 mags. There are two snap (also has Velcro) on the out side (front) of the four center pouches and the flap can reach the top snap no problem. The 4 center pouches will hold 3 AR 15 mags and the outside two pouches will hold 4 each. The AR15 mags when inserted will come to the top of the pouch with plenty of extra room for the pouch flap to close. There are two snap on the out side of the pouch and the flap can reach the bottom snap no problem. The shoulder straps have some padding on them but I really can’t tell how comfortable it will be because I have not been able to really wear it in a training or real world environment. Also there is about a ¼ padding between the pouches and where the vest will touch the body. I had lower back surgery a few years ago and I can fell a little pressure in that area when wearing the vest with 10 AK-74 mags. If I was wearing body armor it may help counter that pressure. I am in the over 40 club so younger guys should not have the same problem. Hope this answers a few questions.

Does it feel very durable or just like cheap crap? I would like something to hold up decently for a tactical class but don't want the thing to cost an arm and a leg.

It seems durable to me. I pulled on the straps and they held up. It does not feel like the cheap $20.00 stuff. I don’t think you would have any problem with this rig for you tactical class. What firearm are you using? I myself would wear it.

A 47 not a 74 so I'm sure it's not going to be the lightest thing.

TOW2B

It will work for the AK-47. I was able to put two mags in each pouch and three on the two outside pockets. The four center pouches have a divider in each that you can separate the mags to help reduce noise. You should only need eight mags but you can get up to 14 total. Like you said it will not be light.

So the center pouches (the actual mag pouches) can only hold 2 47 magazines? Not that I want 20 some pounds of ammo making me a hunch back but isn't that kinda false advertising if it wont hold 3 per pouch?

TOW2B

I went back and tried to cram 3 AK-47 mags in the four pouches. I was able to “cram” three in the pouches but it was so tight it was an effort to get all three in the pouch. When trying to remove a mag I would grab a mag and try removing it but two mags would come out. They are in so tight this would happen each time. The main problem is the floor plate on the 47 stick out so much they interfere with the mag next to it. They “stack” up on each other and this is why when I pulled out a mag two would come out. I took a picture of three mags that would “stack” on each other. If a person could pull a mag out as they inserted them than they could avert this problem. This would be difficult under stressful conditions. This is a different vest but you should get the meaning. Two mags per pouch was much easier. A person might be able to soak the vest then insert 3 47 mags and try to stretch the pouch but I don’t know how well it would work. Sorry about the poor picture. My camera is not very good for upclose pics

Looking at the ads from both companies this is what they said about how many mags you can fit. This is from Security and safety supply. “The ammo pouches are designed to hold 8 – 30 round .223 magazines” This from OPSGEAR “Each of the four pockets holds up to three AK-47, M-16, or two M-1 magazines” The key words here are “UP TO”. They can fit but it does not mean it is practical.

I just picked up three different chest rigs and a vest and I am having the same problem with all four rigs. At the best I can only get two to fit without having the same problem. If you are looking for a rig for the AK-47 I would suggest trying to acquire a real rig designed around the 47 mag. I have spent a bit of time researching this topic so here is a list of some of the web sites that have chest/vest offered. Some are as cheap as $40-50 up to $350.00

Holy crap you have looked into this haven't you? The first link has the Blackhawk chest rig for 60 bucks, I don't think I've seen it that cheap anywhere else. Even if I have to strech it out to hold 3 mags per pouch I think it's worth it.

Every so often they change the prices. I dont remember it being this cheap. It looks real similar to the one I picked up for twice the money. Mine does not have a pistol pouches. Like you said for $60.00 for Blackhawk gear. If you get it let me know how it works out.

Well I just ordered the Blackhawk chest rig from the first link. $70.50 shipped and it may take 1-3 weeks to arrive (they don't tell you this until you hit confirm on your order). Oh well for that price I can wait. I hope this is as good as people say it is. Thanks again for the links.

I have not done business with US military surplus. When I ordered my two chest rigs it did take a little time to get to me. One of my rigs was on back order and that is why it took so long. I would try to drop them a line and find out what the problem is. You should have heard something by now. It’s been two weeks.

I don't know if this has been said . the teflon coating is to protect other fabric that will be rubbing up against the nylon. Cordura is more apt to cause wearing than ballistic nylon.

Finally my chest rig has shipped just yesterday. I placed this order on June 4th and now it is shipping. I don't even have it yet and I'm excited. Sure hope it's the correct one I ordered so I don't have to return it and wait over 2 months for it to ship again. I'll be sure to give a little field report once I have it in my hands.

Oh and by the way NEVER NEVER NEVER order from http://www.usmilitarysurplus.com/surpluscatalog/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=776 This only applies to individuals who enjoy receiving a product in a timely order. Great price but not worth the wait.

Your chest rig show up yet?

crimsomecraze
08-25-2007, 04:04 PM
Yes shortly after shipping it showed up. You are right about the 3 mags per pouch though. It can be done but unless you stack your mags and make sure you pull them out in the right order you can end up pulling all 3 out at once. I may try placing pieces of cardboard in between the mags and letting the pouch stretch a little. However 3 mags per pouch makes for 12 mags and it's rather heavy so I plan on sticking with only 2 per pouch. Also going in the prone position isn't the most comfortable with 12 mags under your chest. It can be done but you have to lay down and then slide back to sort of get the rig up in your neck area to stay low to the ground.

As far as durability goes I don’t think this thing is going to break any time soon. All seams look to be double stitched and the quality of materials and workmanship are great. Blackhawk did a small upgrade from the older model rigs and have put a wider strap that goes around your back and also included molle attachments on it for a buttpack, first aid kit, spare pouches or what ever extra gear you may need.

In conclusion I would defiantly recommend this chest rig for anyone looking for a simple set up that offers some versatility.

Glade you like the chest rig. I am not much on having a lot of stuff hanging off of anything I wear. Not much of a “gear queer”. I will be testing out the same rig while in Iraq and see how well it holds up. I have seen a few soldiers running around with them on. They seem to like theirs.
