I have a couple of questions hopefully somebody can answer for me. Do all ak bayonets fit all of the aks, my norinco 84S .223 specificly? and do the East German bakelite .223 mags work in my gun? Anybody had any experience with them? Thanks

The Norinco AKs had attached bayonets, like the SKS, that folded back into the forearm. I don't know if they were made to take the standard removeable bayonet.
I doubt that the European magazines would fit. They used a steel magazine of their own design, I believe.
Remember that the Chinese and Soviets had fallen out before the AKM was designed, in the late '50s, so that when the Chinese designed a stamped-receiver rifle it was still an "AK-47", with the original trigger, ventelated gas tube, longer front sight, etc. It's unlikely that they would have attempted to match the magazines of the AK-74.

Packrat, my norinco has a detachable bayonet, not all norinco ak's had folding bayonets only the type 56 I believe. I tried my buddies norinco detachable bayonet from his 56S-1 underfolder and it fit. Would like to know if other countrys bayonets will also fit.

Neither my 56-S nor 84-S has a folding bayonet, both came with the standard detachable ones.
AKM bayonets will not fit Chinese rifles only Chinese bayonets will fit the Chinese rifles.

In the pics at the top of the page the bayonet on the left is a AK-47 type bayonet this is the type that the Poly Tech Legend series of rifles and some very early import Chinese AK rifles used. The second bayonet is a AKM bayonet. Notice the small square piece of metal on the left side of the handle above the handguard. This is what keeps the AKM bayonet from going onto the Chinese rifles enought to allow the lock to lock the bayonet on. It hits the cleaning rod retainer on the bottom of the front sight base.
The 56s and 84s came with either type of bayonet folding or detachable.
The only model Chinese rifle that some weren't imported with a folding bayonet was the model 86s "bullpup". Also the Chinese AK rifles with barrels longer than 16" didn't come with any type of bayonet.

Ahh, that ain't right.
The bayonet at the left is a european style that attaches without the use of a bayonet lug; it holds the gas block. It's for early european guns, that did not have a bayonet lug, and I think several countries used this style. I think the North Koreans made a similar unit. The one I have in my collection was alleged to have come from germany.

The bayonet that came with my AK-47S is more like the standard AK-74 bayonet, but without a wire cutter. The serial number matches my weapon.
A russian AK74 bayonet will fit my chinese gun, but it will not quite latch. It appears that the lug itself is a different length. I do believe it could be made to latch with little difficulty.
The bayonet pictured on the left will not fit. the rear portion of the bayonet will not fit over the barrel to straddle the gas block, and it will not slide on in any fasion.
My yugoslav bayonet fits exactly like my russian AK74 bayonet, it slides on perfectly, but will not quite latch.
My Hungarian bayonet, similar to the bayonet on the right in the above picture, will not fit because the bakelight on the hilt is too large, and hits the gas block before the bayonet can slide on.
