Has anyone seen or used this? It seem that it could be fairly solid. I would be interested in this set up to use an AR-type flip up rear sight mounted close to the shooter's eye. My concerns would be that this would put the elevation alignment way off. Maybe use a gas-tube forward rail to have a matching front sight and lose the original? Can the dust cover be removed with this in place? Probably not.

Since the rear mounts with the stock screw, the dustcover is non-removeable until you remove the screw and flip up the rail. Yeah, I would think a rail mounted rear sight would be too high, but what about making an "L" shaped bracket to mount the sight down behind the dustcover? It could clamp onto the rear of the rail and hang downward. Easy enough to pop it off the rail to get to the stock screw.
