ATLANTICFIREARMS.COM is selling a Romanian SAR-1 receiver with all black Bulgarian furniture in a parked finish. Should I buy or stay away from??? Does anyone have any info or experience with this rifle..

Those are done by Ohio Rapid Fire, they shorten the bbl., repark them, and ad nicer wood.. It would be an excellent gun...

How are they shortening the barrel? SARs only have a 16" barrel. If they're shortening it, they're making an SBR.
If it's much more than a SAR, I'd pass. Is the synthetic furniture that exciting? Most SARs have fairly nice wood under the crappy varnish. And refinishing wood is easy, plus I find it relaxing. I believe the SARs are Parkerized under the paint, and while I like Parkerizing, believe me the painted finish is much more durable. One of the things I've changed my mind on.
At most, I'd pay $80 more than the price of a SAR--that's the price of a SAR and a set of Bulgarian furniture. And it's not worth that.

It has a permanently attached brake that puts it at the correct length. It looks shorter because the FSB is moved way back.
i was going to buy the exact gun look at the thread "about to buy my first ak" and look at the responses peple put. I decided to pass on it and just bought my first ak 2 hours ago . WASR sar 1 for $250 +tax which is not bad

m03, sounds like it might have been made from an AMD-65. I still wouldn't pay more for it than a SAR, I don't think.
A WASR for $250 is not bad at all, if it takes hi-cap magazines.
I own one
its a converted wasr 10 to hi cap
i love this AK even if its a wasr
no big deal
typical AK accuracy 4 inches or so at 100 yds
it does have a little trigger slap though
it is parked gray with olive green furniture
Plus atlantic firearms has awsome customer service
I would deal with them and their products anytime

555R, next time you take your rifle apart, look at the rear of teh disconnector (opposite the hook). It probably has a short tail that points toward the rear of the rifle. Grind that tail off (be careful, that's a tube it's attached to). When the bolt carrier comes back to cock the hammer, it makes the hammer kick the disconnector back sharply. If it has that tail, it hits the trigger, causing the slap. The tail (in longer form) locks out the disconnector for full-auto fire. The short tail doesn't work for this, and is useless. No one knows why the US FCG manufacturers chose to put this useless feature on their parts.
There's nothing wrong with a WASR. The bad feelings came from the ones that had a large quarter-circle cut from the lower rear of the receiver so it wouldn't take the AK buttstock. Lacking that, and converted to hi-cap, they are perfectly fine. Glad you like yours; don't let anyone tell you there's anything wrong with it.
Why not see how it will do in the National AK Postal Matches? 4", centered on the X, will get you a good score. Look in the forum for the target and rules.
