View Full Version : Looks like Kerry is going to push after all...
Congratulations...our fight has now become a campaign issue:
Kerry, in a statement issued before Cheney's address, said "most voters don't know that (Bush and Cheney) are standing against major police organizations and breaking their promise to renew the assault weapons ban -- which helps keep military-style assault weapons out of the hands of criminals and terrorists."

Yes, we can count on Kerry, but I don't think Bush will do anything for us, even if he promises it (for our votes). He did it before; I think we can assume he'll do it again (reverting to Daddy's type). If there were any other choice I'd vote against Bush; I may anyway, figuring that a anti-gun Democratic president would keep the Republicans more pro-gun. Make it a party issue if we can.

I'm not defending Bush, because it's kind of a "weenie" tactic, but I believe he's walking the fence; he says he's in favor of the renewal of the assault weapons ban knowing that there is no motivation in the House of Representatives to push for it. This way he gets to appear "concerned" without having to outright campaign either for or against the gun issue.
I'd rather he had the guts to openly state that the ban is worthless and meaningless, but I am finding that even the pro-gun politicians often do not have a backbone with this issue.
I think the Constitution should be changed to allow only vertebrates to run for office. That alone would disqualify 95% of the people who wish to run.

bush is walking the fence, but which way will he go when he's got to make a decision? I think he'll do like Daddy and sink us for a perceived advantage. More and more I'm thinking we should elect Kerry, first to show the RNC that they can't screw up and still count on our votes, and to make it easier to make any gun legislation a party vote; if the Reps don't vote pro-gun, they're voting the Democratic line.
More and more I'm glad that I won't be around much longer, because it doesn't look like there's much hope left. I just feel sorry for my kids.

Isn't that kinda like "cutting off your nose to spite your face"?

Hey, don't let the realisation of your own mortality get in the way of your hope for the future. None of us live forever (physically), and we all have our own unique problems. Nomatter how important you are, or how beautiful your are, or how successfully you are, you're going to die just like everyone else.
All the more reason to push harder and for your voice to be louder...after all, what have you got to lose?

Ok for all you folks that think voting in Kerry, might make gun contol a party issue, and benifite us.. Think of this...Kerry would have one of 2 choices for Attorny General... Diane Fineswine, or Chuck Schumer.. neither of wich you would want in control of the ATF!!!!!

Let's not forget Supreme Court nominees either...
Supposedly, at least one and maybe more are stretching their retirement hoping to leave under a Democrat President.

Good one ZZ!...I thought at first I'd sit this one out, but I think we're going to have to go for George; as a big "Weenie" or not. Tom Delay knows how we feel and has said he'd block any vote in the House, but you know how that can go....I send copious "Cards and Letters" to my anti-gun senators here so at least they know how I feel.

I'm a lifelong Democrat but I will not vote for John Kerry. There is something about him that just doesn't ring true. He is definitely anti-gun. He has already stated he didn't know why anybody needed an "Assault Rifle" (read semi-automatic here) for hunting. If he is elected we will probably have all of our semi-autos banned and have to turn them in or have them confiscated. I think if that happens a lot of law abiding citizens will become criminals.
