View Full Version : Galil recievers
I'm looking to build a R4 clone and I need suggestions on which reciever
to use.Does anyone know of a source for IMI recievers? I also read a post
yesterday that said at one point 130 R4 recievers were shipped to the US,
it didn't say when and I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this?
Could you even use it if one was located?
Thanks,
Rick

Rick, the IMI receivers are now unobtainium and expensive if you can find them, but Ohio Rapid Fire is now machining Galil receivers that "are identical to IMI Galil side-by-side" - check the AK forums on ar15.com for details. Harlan/FAC will be selling them. They will also count as a US part, which means for an R4 clone you're basically looking at receiver, h/t/s, and one more US part.
Hey OODA,
Why is it you only need 5 US parts on a Galil?I'm used to the 7 on the FN and thankyou for the info.

Cause you are only allowed 10 imported parts. FALs have more parts, therefore you have to have more U.S. parts to compensate.
On a milled AK or variant, you only need 4 U.S. parts w/o a muzzle device, 5 if you have one. On a stamped AK, you need 5 and 6, respectively.
