ZOID ZODIAN
Since we're all waiting for the AWB to sunset, I'm sure Arsenal and everybody else is waiting patiently for the return of pre-ban features to AK-type rifles.
I have posted many a reply on other boards about how AK's are affected as much by the George Bush 1989 ban as the 1994 AWB, so, if my interpretation of the regulations is correct, then ONLY an AK that qualifies as US-made will be eligible for the return to pre-ban features.
Guess which manufacturer will probably be the only one to qualify: Arsenal!
Good Thing, since they make the best AK on the planet!
I have read in other places that even the Russian VEPR's and Saiga's may or may not be eligible for pre-ban features, since the "sporterization" of Russian AK's may in fact have something to do with Russian export laws as much as US laws. (I have never been able to substantiate or repudiate this claim). Romanian SAR's may or may not be eligible, since rumors abound that Century's installation of pistol grips to these rifles is no longer allowed under section 922(r) (the 1989 ban again).
So, Arsenal will be the BEST source for pre-ban features, and may be the ONLY one.
So here's my wish list for Christmas 2005:
A folding stock 7.62x39 AK, preferably side-folder with milled receiver; although I'm sure nostalgia fans will want a downfolder too.
An equivalent of the SA M7 Classic or SA M7 Carbine with pre-ban features and a beautiful laminated stock. Yes, I know this will probably cost a premium price, but since I have more than one black polymer stocked SA M7, this would be an attractive variant.
