View Full Version : Unthreaded tool kit?

Hi all,
I'm new to kalashnikovs, but not new to rifles. I recently bought a NIB WASR-10 and I really love it! I've had zero problems, other than I need to sight in the iron sights. Still working on that one...

However, I tried to use the butstock tool kit and discovered all the cleaning tools aren't threaded at all. Is this normal? If so, where can I order a new kit with threaded tools (bore brush, etc)? And are the tool kits standard across all aks? I.e. can I switch out tool kits with say a tantal and a wsar-10?

And as a side question, can I switch out the hardwood stock I have for an underfolder? I've seen replacements at k-var, but it doesn't say. I'll probably end up building/buying an underfolder anyway.

p.s. When I was at the range, this guy had a rolling river ar-15 and it took him twenty minutes to prepare to fire it. And it jammed three or four times. Man I love my weapon! Right out of the box, goes off over and over with no problems.

odd that they arent threaded. are they stripped?

http://www.tickbitesupply.com/ak.html these guys have both the cleaning kit and a front sight tool. someone else may know where to find them cheaper.

and yep, ak's will definitely go bang every time you pull the trigger. most reliable gun there is. congrats on your first ak, and enjoy it!

p.s. ... cleaning??... what is this cleaning you speak of? heheh

From the tool kits I only use the take down and sight tools. For cleaning I use a standard rifle cleaning kit.The Tantal is 5.45,the WASR-10 is 7.62.The 7.62 Polish tool kits are really nice and they are cheap.
