Looks good.Make sure the ejector is long enough to eject a round.

I had to file the ejector just a hair. I hand cycled 30 dummy rounds without a prob.
Sadly I have only 1 live round since I traded in my SAR-2 for a G1 FAL.
Guess I better find some ammo.

You are lucky you got the long Tapco ejector.I saw one Tapco flat in the package at a show this weekend.I forgot to check the ejector.I bought a bunch of Tapco flats not in packages. They all have short 7.62 only ejectors.

These are all tapco flats I bought at a local gun shop who sells alot of tapco stuff. I was a bit worried about the ejector so I ground down my upper rails to accept the bolt/carrier and ran the bolt through. Sure enough it stuck on the ejector. I figured if it was too short I have a non G kit id put on it till i found good rails. Got lucky. Looks like all the flats I have are the same.

Looks pretty good there, Creator. I was wondering if that is a screw build or rivet? It looks like a scew built but I did remember you saying that you were going to start doing some rivet builds. I know when I do My Tantal, I will be riveting that Kit cause of the excellent condition of it. I see no reason why not to permenantly assemble it using the traditionalist way in this build. And being so hard to begin with in obtaining ammo for this particular rifle, It will see limited use until there is an over abundance of 5.45 everywhere, and I don't see that happening real soon. Anyway, like I said earlier in my post reply,...Looks Sweeeeet! Build on Brother, Build on...Ken from Pa.

It is a screw build on the front and riveted on the rear trunnion. Ive noticed if you screw the rear it tends to back off after 1000 rounds or so. eventually your dust cover wont fit anymore. I like screwing the front in incase of future work needing be done to the barrel etc. Never had a prob with the front. The rear being riveted is a must. Ill give more info in replying to your P.M bud.

My wife loves it when I use her oven:devil: . She also loves the fact that when I start something, I finish it. Well unless she sees me whipping out the flat bending jig (thats another story)
Anyways I am a very happy camper. Oops, forgot the cleaning rod. O'well
I do however need a new set of handguards. These are ok but have wear.
New Tantal sling is in the mail. :D

More talent on the AKFiles. That is one stunning example!

The handguards look fine. What is the problem with them?

Does the muzzle device come off just like any other AK?

They just ahve a few scratches. Now that its done I dont even notice them. Would be nice to have new ones but im not too worried about it. The muzzle device unscrews the same also. I might just have to get another kit. Fun to shoot.

How to you assemle a tantal with a us made fire control? I took a kit apart and I am stumped?

Very easily, you toss all the Tantal's unique burst fire mechanism and go with the standard AKM US made FCG parts, substituting a standard foreign made selector for the Tantal's safety. That is if you build on a normal AK74 type receiver.

Several vendors are in the process of developing Tantal specific receivers that will allow you to use the standard US FCG and reuse the original Tantal safety. At least one is supposed to have a hole for the left side burst selector so you can look authentic, even if it is non-functional.

Ill be riveting in the front after i finish a couple more builds. Its time to quit "screwing around" LOL.
I believe everyones first build should be a screw build with a cheap kit. Move up from there.
