Picked up a few things for my AKs at a gun show this weekend, including a strange looking mag.

It's a 30rd 7.62x39 ribbed steel mag, finished in an olive green color. It has a Izhevsk "arrow in triangle mark" on the rib, along with what looks like "PB" inside of a diamond mark and "EA" in a rectangle.

Just curious as to the rarity (or commonality) of mags like this. I haven't seen one like it before, and I haven't been able to find an example of one like it on the internet.

is this a smooth sided AK? otherwise known as a 'slabside". I have a few of those that have the triangle and arrow stamped on the rib near the bottom, a lot of those 'slabside" mags where parkerized during refurbishment, they orginally were blued, somehow during the parkerizing some of them came out, gray, black to almost olive color......I have 2 that look like the color green. as for rare, lets put it this way.......any soviet marked mags, don't come up very often, and are not very easy to find, so they are a prize.

I did pretty good myself at the gun show this past weekend.......found a new TULA 7.62 bakelite mag, got it for 40 bucks, which considering the market for them is in the 100+ range, I did pretty good........it will go nicely with my ISHEVSK one.

No, this one has the ribbed/ridged sides.

I did miss an opportunity to get an original, all stamped, Type-56 mag. That would've been cool to have.

You might be able identify your mag here.
