I seem to always meet the coolest people at a rather expensive local range. While there a ammo distributor saw me shooting my Ak's and told me Tula was coming out with a whole new line of ammo in January. It is called Tula Brass Maxx and will be available in Walmart and other stores. Apparently the ammo will be the same grain loads and bullets they have been using, but the ammo will be loaded by Focchi in their brass case. He said the calibers will be 7.62x39, 7.62x51 (.308), and 7.62x54r (148 grain), 5.45x39, .223 and several other pistol calibers. No idea on price, but he said Tula's pistol ammo has been poor up to this point and the new line will be an improvement.

If its cheaper than normal Fiocchi ammo, I suppose it'd be good for reloading. Not a fan of Tula's loads, though. Way underpowered.

If it's brass and cheaper than PMC and works in my SL8-1, I'll buy it up for training/target practice.

It would have to be considerably cheaper (.50-$1) then Silver bear to run it in my 74. Silver Bear runs extremely fine and I'm not really worried about it being steel cased.

This would be wonderful for future subsonic reloading, depending on price point. 20+$ for 20 remington just isnt gonna cut it for this po boy.

I don't reload so have no interest in this particular product, but it is good to see them expanding their product line. Tula is my favorite plinking ammo due to it's low cost and reliability.

Loaded "by" Fiocchi for Tula or loaded at Tula in brass from Fiocchi?

Seems odd that Fiocchi would tool up to make 7.62x54R and 5.45x39 brass. Every one else seems to buy Prvi brass and they used to make 74 brass but have no interest in in now.

Will be nice to see it if it does show up.

He stated that the ammo would be loaded by Fiocchi at their plant in Italy. Even showed me a flier so it seemed legit.

Well it'll be interesting....might be good, but who knows. The bullets still won't pass a magnet test, and the brass case...well....they'd have to beat out Golden Tiger for quality to get my money.

Fiocchi 7.62X39 ammo SUCKED as far as accuracy went for me, and for 60 cents a round it shoulda done better than 6-7" groups (@100yards) out of 4 differant guns.

Brass cased 5.45 would be nice.

That's good. No matter who makes it and where.....MORE ammo is always good!

Did it list the 5.45 in the flyer?

So, basically, it's TULammo doing their own version of Wolf Gold. Wolf Gold is just rebranded Prvi Partizan; sounds like TULammo Brass Maxx will just be rebranded Fiocchi. Color me unimpressed.

IMHO, what TULammo needs is a line with non-magnetic bullets. Price 'em a penny or two more per cartridge than the regular stuff, and it would fly off the shelves.

Any ammo is good ammo!!! Brass for reloading is a big plus too.

Absolutely agree on the Tula Maxx Brass = Wolf Gold ammo. But as most of us know Wolf Gold is damn hard to find in any caliber but .410. I recently found 60 rounds of Wolf Gold in 54r 149 grain and cannot wait to finally shoot it. That said it took me 2 years to get some. If walmart is carrying something that is equivalent and the same price at about 18.00 a box I am ok with that on 54r, but not with 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.

On a side note he was shooting Fiocchi 7.62x39 out of a saiga with iron sights at 100 yards I was damn impressed. i watched him shoot a magazine into about a 2 inch group. Course he then broke out his $5k sniper rifle with Nightforce scope and silencer and was shooting a 5 shot quarter size group at 300 yards.

Apparantly there have been reports on other sites that .223 tula brass maxx is selling at walmart in the last few days 20 rds/ $18.00. Anyone seen any other calibers?

Over the last 2 days in Wal-Mart, I've managed to get 7 boxes of this stuff in .40 cal. I'm scared to shoot it, simply because I don't know when I'll be able to get any more.

My walmart had .223 for $16/50 rnd box!

.40sw was $19.99 per 50

19.99 a tad higher then Winchester White box and Federal. Can you please post pictures of the actual bullet. I am curious if these are actually Fiocchi brass casings and they are trying to get into a cheaper market with Tula. I wonder who makes the powder and bullet as well.

The brass looks like decent quality, but I don't know much about reloading... yet. :small_gri

Interesting. I reload and would like to have some brass for the 7.62x54r to mess around with.

I just hope they continue and offer 5.45 x 39. in reloadable brass cases. It's always good to see an expanding ammunition market especially for boxer primed reloadable brass.

6 box?? Consider yourself lucky, we have a 3 box limit.

3 box limit here. I shot 1/2 a box of this stuff today and didn't have any problems, it did seem under powered though (cycled a little on the rough side and low recoil).

i saw 4 boxes of .223 tula brass maxx for $17/50rd box at local walmart with no limitation. I didn't buy them and let someone who needs them more than me has the chance. end up i bought their last box of 100rd .40 white box for $35 and the last 2 boxes of tula .380 at $15 each. I am all happy at least getting some ammo.

I can never get what I want so I buy what I can and then I can usually trade it for what I need. LOL

Seems like a few of us have bought it, but anybody shoot this stuff yet??

I have been looking for .40S&W for months and haven't been able to find any. Saw some at the local Wally World and got my limit. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but with nothing else (especially at the price)... I'll just be using it for target practice, anyway.

So, any opinions on it?

It was $19.99/box of 50. Only .40 in I've seen in my immediate area for a couple of months.

Thanks, brother. How would you rate the accuracy/grouping?

I shoot the hell out of this in 45auto. Very accurate in my military surplus barrel. Nice fist sized groups at 25yds, I'm no pistol marksman. Didn't rub me as a particularly dirty ammo. Pretty consistent my experience has been with Tula Maxx 45auto brasscase.

Wallmarts in Austin area are not seeing any of it, or the flippers are beating me to it???

I did see some Winchester 7.62x54R at a local Acadamy. 1 box a day limit. $22.00 a box. 7.62negant revolver ammo, 6.5spc at my local walmart.

Any new ammo is welcome, even if I don't shoot it. The more ammo choices available, will drive the cost of surplus and others down. Competition is a good thing.

If you want it in anything popular ie 9, 40, 45 you better be there Tuesday morning and I mean early.

When I show up at 9am all that is left is steel case 45 and old 38spec.

I get there at about 7am and I get a brick of 22lr and a ton of brass 45 if I'm willing to walk out and back in a few times ;)

I hear ya. When I got there, there were just a few people lurking around waiting for the manager to come open the case. When she got there, she asked what we all wanted. We all wanted different stuff, and she said, "Good, there wont be a fight this morning." Those of us buying were stunned. Apparently, It gets pretty heated, lol. She looked us each in the eye and said "Don't, come back today!"

I am a tad pissed about me being the original post for this and it not coming to fruition like I hoped. I have only seen .223 , .40 s&w and 9mm tula maxx brass. Has anyone seen anything else. This stuff sits on my local shelves for days and I really don't know why it seems like rather good ammo compared to federal.

Just scored 3 boxes of tulammo BrassMAXX .380 from my local wally today. Weird thing wally was packed and their was still 10/ 12 boxes of 9mm brassmaxx when i left.

I do see a trend as ammo is sitting much longer on the shelves. Back 6 months ago it was gone in minutes, now it's several hours.

I was tempted to pick up the brassMAXX .45s for the paps but, that old fart can buy his own ammo! I am saving for something I dunno yet but I am waiting for it to catch my eye~! Maybe a Saiga or 2 who knows.

never seen 5.45 at wally world here. I have seen them at academy. monarch makes them but it's close to 12.99 or 13.99 for 30 rds. I have seen WPA (camo box) 30 rds at lgs for 8.99 and i always gobbled them up.

BTW - some moanrch 9mm have hard primers. One or 2 out of a box of 50 needed second strikes YMMV.

It's not Tula made, but Tula partnership/contract made by Fiocchi out of Italy.

The only BrassMaxx that I've seen at Wally World has been .40 cal.

I don't reload but yea it is a big deal because I shoot allot and motherfuckers that do reload will buy that shit from you.
