All of my AKs are .30 caliber or .223. I'm in the market for an AK-74 in 5.45x39 and am at a quandry as to which one I should buy. The choice is between the following:

1. Bulgarian kit built on an OOW receiver, (either side folder or fixed stock). $699, $599 respectively.

2. Really nice, refinished (both furniture and metal) SAR-2. $550

3. Arsenal SLR-105A1R. $545

If I go with the SLR-105, I'd like to install Russian or Polish furniture on it, including the pistol grip, but am concerned about compliance with 922r.

Any and all suggestions, comments welcome.

Thank you.

The Arsenal SLR-105 is by far the best quality.

Ditto! You would need to replace alot of items to install the Ruskie items.

I paid $500 for a kit built Bulgy 74. In retrospect, I should have gone with an Arsenal.

dont forget the vepr,i know it doesnt have the exact look you might want.but its by far the best ive ever shot.or get the arsenal,i shot one this weekend and it was by far the best KIT gun ive ever seen.the stock was short like original ak's,which feels a little small when you shoulder it,to me anyway.very nice rifle, will buy one when i can afford it
