I notices Wolfys tantals are 1993 dated. The one i got is 1989. Anyone know if its worth more or if there is any difference. im sure there is not but its worth asking. it came with original mag too. The only thing that disgusts me is the finish on it sucks. its almost all worn off. The bore is bright and shiney and the interiors are great but it needs a gun-kotin like crazy. The guy called it a hand select.
Ya i wanted to save a few bucks cause i couldnt quite come up with all the cash for one of wolfsburgbobs kits. I am imagining that this guy did hand select it out of a garbage bag full of crap. (just glad the bore is beautiful. I emailed him my dissapointment and sent him a link to what a tantal kit hand selected should look like. If he doesnt make this right or i dont get my money back im starting a flame war. He owns a gun shop in texas so he should of known better then to make up this tantal kit as a big (hand select) deal. He even threw in a extra new plastic mag to sweetin the deal (wonder why)
I guess live and learn.
Im almost too embarrased to post pics. It could look new with a refinishing and new hand guards but that is not the point.
OK i vented.

The difference I've found comparing my 1995 kit to older hits are the top cover in 1995 is heavier without stiffening ribs, the recoil spring has a top cover retainer in the rear tab,the take down latch on the gas tube is a lever not a screwdriver slot. The earlier ones seem to have a better funish.I'm guessing they are parked and the 1995 is just painted and the paint doesn't stick very well.I think there was one other difference I vound but I van't remember what it is.

My 1995 has less finish than the older ones,I think they might have been trying different finishes. Most of them looked like they were carried a lot and fired very little.

There are little differences as mentioned above.
Shameless plug, but if he doesn't take care of you, I have excellent condition Tantals. Send me an email.

As long as the bore is good with no freckling of the chrome lining, barrel is straight and the metal parts are not rusted, your Tantal should build up into a very sharp shooting rifle. I have bought a $270 AA premium Tantal and a $190 centerfire tatnal setup. both when built up look exactly the same. I never care if the kits have a finish on them or not. Its paint, its getting removed when I build up the set, and getting repainted with a new finish anyway. As long as you didn't get hosed on the price, I wouldn't worry to much about it not looking brand new. If you did get hosed on the price, make sure you get some money back and post that losers name.

I planned on one of bobs kit but getting the funds up that high for "another kit" made my wife really happy. The bore is in excellent shape and i kinda like having the older version with the few differences. Its nothing a bottle of gunkote wont fix though. i just need a good deal on mint condition tantal hand guards. He offered my money back but im going to keep it. I was looking down the bore after cleaning it for atleast 20 minutes being really picky. Thank god for chrome lined barrels.
Maybe i can get him to send me some extra mags or something.

I am sorry that my price falls outside anybody's range. I would like EVERYBODY to be able to take advantage of "The BAR-BE-QUE Experience" first hand.
"Hand picked" does NOT mean the best of four or five random examples.
Doing this the way I do it TAKES TIME! A LOT OF TIME!
I also wish there were "extra" MINT Tantal upper and lower hand guards for me to sell, but the only ones I have go with the PERFECT KITS.
The HANDGUARDS are the MAIN issue with Tantals as they are UNIQUE! When you have PERFECT ONES,..that is the "Nads".
Good luck with your kit!
