I have a thumnbhole SA-93, that I was thinking about converting to .223, correct me if I'm wrong:
-The KVAR 5.56 Bulgie barrels will fit the milled bulgie recievers, correct? i.e. neither are threaded, they press in
-I could use my original 7.62 carrier, but need the 5.56 bolt
-the mag well size is the same, as the bulgie 5.56 mags, are "47" width and pattern, unlike the "74" pattern Romanian SAR-3, so I could use bulgie 30 rounders
-I was thinking I would need: barrel, bolt, and was planning on new gas block, fsb and brake.
-Would the ejector have to "built" up?
I know, I know I could buy a factory 5.56 SAM-5 or whatever they are called, but I already have the SA-93 an this would be a neat project.
What would be real cool, is installing the 24mm FSB, and installing one of the new bulgarian slotted flashhiders, and.......leaving the thumbhole stock on. I.e. this would still be legal as the gun wouldn't have a pistol grip.
When the ban sunsets, one could install one of the new Arsenal drop on milled side folding stock set ups (KVAR is going to get these in a month or so).
Any thoughts?
