Was just trying to figure out my over all barrel length on a build and realized I don’t know sh*t. Were do you start form the back of the chamber, front of chamber, start of the rifling or just overall length?
Any help would be great, but right answer awesome. :laugh_sma
The length of a barrel is measured from the face of the locked bolt/breech face to the end of the barrel on rifles and shotguns. It is the same on a single shot or semi auto pistol. A revolvers barrel measurement does not include the cylinder.
The easiest way to measure is to use a cleaning rod. Run it down the barrel until it stops by touching the bolt face. Mark the cleaning rod with a black marker at the end of the barrel. This is assuming that the rod is longer than the barrel. remove the rod and measure the rod from your mark to the end that touched the barrel.
Rudy out. :smile_sma
