Well I finished building my first bulgy '74 kit about a week ago, and I test fired it the other day. I hadnt even cleaned the metal chips from drilling the trunion rivet holes but she ran beautifully. Wasnt shooting at paper, but she was quite accurate judging by the ice formations we were shooting at. 600rds through her already, and the only malfunction was that my friend burned the tip of his finger when he shot her after she warmed up.
now the bad part...
I have absolutely no desire to ever use any of my 7.62 aks from this point on...

No problem, Ant, just send them to me and they'll be well-cared-for. I'll even send you pictures of them from time to time.

Gotta love the controllability of the 5.45 round - what a blast to play with! I'm in the same boat - have 3 of thos bad boys now - all built on different receivers.

Ant, what do you have and how soon would you be wanting to move them? The way I see it, one can never have too many AK's.

1 - WASR10, the one that occasionally gets displayed as the title gun here. Romanian non folding stock, kobra sight, RSA trigger set, other US compliance parts.
2 - MAADI RPM converted to RPK lookalike. RSA trigger set, '74 style brake, other US compliance parts. Fired approx 200rds
3 - Romanian WUM1 with KVar US black furniture, PSO scope, RSA trigger set. Fired 60rds
2 40rd mags
1 chink 75rd drum
4 dozen mags
2krds barnaul ammo
Might get rid of em ... might not ... depends on what kinda offer I get ;)

I have found myself heading in the opposite direction. It started with the MAS49/56, then the STG58 and the Hakim. Now I'm drulling over those Romak 3 kits from CenterFire but since the tax return is already spent that one will have to waite.

I'm doing it a little differently. I just got my AMD-63 back from the builders, M-1 garand (H&R) CMP, I have my Sten MKII at the builders (Catco Receiver), then I will drop off my PMKMS at the builders, then my Chilian FAL kit, then my G-1, then I can look to get some more kits or firearms for my collection. :D So far that's the plan for 2004.

That's one of the first group buys that we had on the Files back in 2001. It was the first kit I ever bought. I just never got around to having it built but maybe this year. :D

I have a couple of 223Rem chambered AK's, but don't yet have a built 5.45x39 chambered AK. I have three 5.45x39 kits and another on the way. I really like how the 223Rem chambered rifles shoot compared to the 7.62x39 chambered rifles. How does the feel of the 5.45x39 AK's compare to the 223Rem AK's?
