I recently purchased a Saiga .223. I want to convert to a pistol grip and folding stock. First of all, does anyone know a site to purchase these for a reasonable price? And secondly, is it possible to do this with little or no work? I am not an expert or gunsmith. I appreciate your input.

Here is a place that shows what it takes to convert one. I am looking into doing it myself.

While it takes a decent amount of work, it makes for a fine rifle when you're done.

I don't know where you are going to get a side folder for a decent price, unless you go with the wimpy-looking wire type.

Here's my 7.62 Saiga converted to side-folding stock and pistol grip, takes standard ak mags. I bought it this way, but I do believe there was a lot of work involved.

But I have seen a guy selling a so-called 'conversion kit'.

That kit is a little lacking in my opinion. If you're going to go through all the trouble of converting a Saiga, you should completely replace the trigger guard so that it will be one piece like a real AK as opposed to two pieces. Also, you need to replace the buttstock.

Well yeah, I think it is just to get the pistol grip installed and appears to be just a few easily obtainable parts. To use standard ak mags you need a bullet guide installed also, I think. Mine has one installed. And then there is the barrel stuff and handguards to address. Lots of work for sure. LOL

Hello, im new to this site. I recently finished my saiga conv. on my saiga 762. i used the cross-conn method. i am very pleased with the rifle, but was wondering what, other than the aluminum binding-posts,(that take the place of the old trigger holes)could be used? great looking rifle akxtc, where did you aquire it?

I think that the best thing to do would be to weld up the holds and grind them flat so it looks like they were never there. The next best thing might be to put rivets in them.

I've seen them with short steel rivets put in the holes.I'm working on one now.I want to weld the holes but for right now I've left the holes open.

Thanks! And a hardy welcome to the site. Mine was converted by Rick Miller of Oregon (rick-16 on this site, rick16 on gunbroker, nashnash on ar15.com). And apparently he is still doing it. Check this one out, below. Wish I'd have seen it when it was for sale.
