Here is the first build from the batch of M70 kits I got from APEX. I'm building the bad barrel kits first, I got some nice used barrels for them w/no galling and good bullet tests. It was a nice easy build, the barrel parts from the old barrel fit the replacement barrel very well and the rest of it went together with ease... :small_gri ...I didnt do an in depth build article this time around but I will on one of the other ones. Anyway, it needs to be blued still but I'm not gonna do that until there is another pile of guns ready for blueing so its gonna look like this for a little while. I like the 9 kill notches on the left side of the lower handguard by the way, it gives it character:

Very nice!
I always like to enjoy viewing the guns that people make.
The Yugoslavian milled AK47's have quite a service history.

Thats what I want to do with my kit. What kind of selector are you using? Are you going to add metal ferrule on lower hand guard?

If I can find a ferrule for the lower handguard I'll put it on of course but thats not gonna stop me from doing the builds on them. Its hard to tell in the pics but I'm using the correct selectors for yugo underfolders and no, I dont have any left to spare, in fact I dont have enough underfolder stocks and selectors left to build all 10 kits that I got from APEX as underfolders so a few of them are gonna be fixed stock builds w/new US made stocks.

Can regular Yugo selectors be modified to work? I dont have a good image to compare the differences.

That's awesome, I have a Romy stock with one X in it. I assume they got at least one kill.

A fixed stock selector lever will fit on an underfolder and will line up with the notches on the side of the receiver but the tab on the lever for your thumb will hit the stock when you fold the stock up unless you extend the notch in the stock that clears the tab on the underfolder selector lever so that it can clear the tab on the fixed stock selector lever.

Ok thanks I will keep that in mind.

Cool man. I got two of these from a different source that had all kinds of crazy Christian graffiti on them. Figured them for Christian Militia rifles. Kind of creepy when you remember the massacres.
Some people don't like the dings and use marks. I find it fascinating. If you want something shiny and new, go buy an Arsenal...

Naaaaah, if I wanted a shiny new AK I'd just build it myself with shiny new parts, no need for Arsenal... :rofl_smal :cool_smal

Whats a 7 kill wonder (besides a flamethrower :rofl_smal)? If you're referring to the notches on the handguard, there's 9 of them, not 7. As to what I'm gonna do with it the plan is to build the rest of them, take them to the range for testing, blue them all, and then put them away in the collection and wait for TS to HTF and then they will come out again for battle.... :rofl_smal

They came from AWO (Assault Weapons of Ohio).

That’s a good looking rifle!
I like that one better than the RPk’s. I have always been partial to the shorter compact variants.

Thanks for the compliment... :small_gri ...I'm real happy to hear that you like the M70 by the way because when they're done I'll be making plans to spend another day at your place to blue them... :rofl_smal :rofl_smal :rofl_smal
To be honest I wanna buy your blueing setup when I can swing it but we need to talk about that some more first....

Looks great Greek!
Man, those ferrules are a bear to find. I've not had any luck other than the marketplace. BTW, I've also not found any other country's ferrules that will work either unfortunately.

TheGreek., lookin good. The Yugo milled builds on the AWO go pretty smooth. You left off the selector stop plate is that correct? I did that too on some of the milled Yugo builds. There is a certain feel to the solid metal receivers.
The fixed stock ones are nice too. Enjoy.:)

I thin the selector stop plates, I dont remove them.

OK., some of the ORF versions had a built up shoulder on the receiver at the front of the triggger guard area. You had to mill it off or mount the trigger guard with no stop plate. Other/later versions were changed in the milling process.

I built a bunch of them actually, right now I'm in the middle of taking them all back apart to use the receivers for the M70 builds. The reason why is because when I built the M72 underfolders AWO wasnt offering M72 receivers, only M70 receivers. M72 receivers dont have a top cover lock pin, M70's do. Now that AWO is offering M72 receivers in both fixed stock and underfolder versions the plan is to rebuild the M72 underfolders that I'm taking apart on new M72 receivers from AWO.

Wow those look great. The m70 looks to have a lot of character. I have an M70 AB2 made by Century. :straightf Its ok but I want to build my own someday. Hopefully I'll learn a thing or two from the forum.

BUT, didnt you have the receivers stamped with the kit part numbers??? I thought you had that done on them on the lightening cuts, just like from the factory???

Not on the underfolder ones because at the time I bought the M70 underfolder receivers to build the M72 underfolders AWO wasnt offering the custom serial number option. The fixed stock M72's that I bult have the serial numbers on them and the next batch of receivers that I'll get to put the M72 underfolders that I took apart back together again will be serial numbered too.
