5.45x39 and .223 Nato variants,do they use the same magazines?

No, but you can convert a 5.45 mag to use 5.56 (.223) ammo.

Robinson Arms 5.56mm followers are what you need to convert an AK74 mag to 5.56mm, but you'll need to fiddle with the feed lips too, and it's tricky to get it 'just right'.

5.56mm Weiger mags (see interordnance) are the way to go.
