I am not sure if they work or not, but I am sure they can be made to.

That's a question for a AKsmith.

The piston might be a little difficult (chrome plating), but a Dremel with a selection of tools (including a cutoff wheel to remove the original handle) would work for a "conversion" of a standard carrier. (I know the reason for the upturn is so you can operate it with the left hand, but it looks butt-ugly. The bolt carriers with the handle angled up do the same and look better.)

I assume the star on the piston fits into the depressions on a standard AK gas tube. If so, doesn't it mean that the piston has to be timed so it lines up properly? Or do you screw it in till it stops, then screw it out till the notches line up with the depressions?

i did a search, as i know nothing of galil's and little of ak's. the sar is the shorty version. i'll order the arm model and see how it works..

Correct, for a standard AK, you would want a ARM model carrier.

Be very careful when dealing with Botach. Make sure the item is in stock. I've heard many horror stories.

I've had nothing but good luck ordering Galil stuff from Botach, although I've heard the horror stories, too.
